This Week In Gaming - Week 1
Playstation 3
- Duke Nukem Forever is NOW available to pre-order, as of Wednesday 29th December, on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The shoot ‘em up adventure game is available to pre-order from Amazon.com
- With the battle for best media suite available on a console hotting up, Sony announces a stunning deal which is sure to launch the Playstation 3 to the top. Sony Entertainment has signed a contract with Fox and Universal Studios, who will join Sony and Disney in providing movies for the Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable owners. The aim of this is to boost the popularity of the Sony games consoles, but the number of exclusive movies is yet to be announced.
Xbox 360
- Xbox 360 developers have now started going through the HUGE backlog of games, to add Kinect support to them. Earlier this week, Def Jam Rapstar received a patch which kept the fundamental gameplay the same, except the patch allowed the Kinect Hardware to record you bopping away to your favourite Def Jam artists tracks. It is expected that a lot more games will be patched to include Kinect support, so keep your eyes peeled!
Wii
- For Nintendo Wii users, Christmas comes around 361 days early this year, as Amazon.com are offering astounding deals on Wii games. The deal features the offer “Buy one, get one half price”, which I think you’ll agree is absolutely insane! This means that the games you asked to get at Christmas but weren’t lucky enough to receive, you can now get bundled. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Handhelds
- The Playstation portable successor is now rumoured to be a completely touch screen device. Sony Computer Entertainment executive Kaz Hirai has stated that “There are definitely games that suit touch panels better than physical buttons, but then again, touch screen devices take the immersion to a minimum, as pads and physical controls are much more immersive”. Sony have yet to announce their “PSP2”, but we’d have to be ignorant to think that Sony aren’t up to something secretive behind their closed doors. This week in gaming will keep you up to date with anymore news on the rumoured device.
- Developer Telltale Games are in middle of their $0.99 after-Christmas sale offering games such as Puzzle Agent, Puzzle Agent HD, Wallace and Grommet and Sam and Max: Episode 1. All apps are rated 3.5/5 stars or above on Apples App Store, which Sam and Max: Episode 1 receiving positive feedback of 4.5/5 on the store.
We'll be back next week with more console news!
