Review: PureGear PX360° Extreme Protection System (iPhone 4/4S)

Everyone wants to protect their phone, right? While some cases are more for looks, others are more for protection. The case I'll be reviewing today offers both of those in a good-looking, protective package. The case we'll be looking at today is the PX360° Extreme Protection System for the iPhone 4 and 4S. This video was sponsored by PureGear, so be sure to check them out!

For starters, I'm sure you can see that this case is definitely unique when compared to other cases. The "Extreme" in the name of this product isn't just for show; it's for people that want to do extreme things, such as rock climbing. At the top of this case, you'll find a Carabiner. This is great if you want to clip your iPhone to your harness while you're climbing, or maybe a book bag while you're hiking. This may not be a feature that the everyday Joe will use, but keep in mind that it doesn't need to be used.

So how is this case protective? For starters, it's held on to the phone by 6 screws. The screws don't go in to the phone, but rather into the other side of the case. The case comes with the tool to apply and remove the screws. This ensures that the case will always be tight around the phone. This case also adds a good amount of width to the phone, as the sides of the case sticks out around 1/4 inch all the way around the phone. I feel very secure when my phone is in this case. The fact that the case is made out of a good and hard material, is screwed together, and is relatively thick really puts my mind to ease when it comes to the safety of my device.

With all of the pros about this case, there are a few cons. For starters, the width that the case offers makes the phone a little hard to use at times. While I can normally access all 3.5" of the iPhone's display with one thumb without the PX360 applied, this isn't the case when it's applied. This case makes the phone feel like it has a much larger form factor than it really does. Depending on the size of your hands, this may or may not be an issue. Also, since I'm not a person that does a lot of extreme things, the carabiner doesn't add much functionality for me, other than giving the case a weird appearance. The screws can also be tedious to remove if you're a person that likes to swap cases from day to day. You also have to have the tool handy if you want to remove them.

Overall, I highly recommend this case if you're looking for a protection solution for your iPhone. For someone like me, I don't think this would be your everyday case. However, if PureGear came out with a case made of the same material, wasn't quite as thick, and without the carabiner at the top, then I would definitely use it as my primary case.
