Spotify for the iPhone and iPod touch

I have a feeling that by now most of our readers (that means you!) know about the cross platform application called Spotify, which allows you to stream the latest music to your computer. Well, maybe only those of you that live in Europe. Recently enough a mobile version of Spotify was released for the iPhone and iPod Touch which has full access to the complete Spotify catalog. The downside to this mobile application is that it requires a Premium account which costs €9.99 a month here in Ireland to use it. I have a feeling that you guys are wondering whether or not it’s worth it.

I may not have tested it out myself, but by the looks of it I have a feeling this could be the iTunes killer. When you first download and open the application you will be prompted to enter your account details. Once you’re into the application you’re greeted with one sexy green interface. From the homepage of the application you are able to play, remove or even sync playlists. You’re probably wondering what the syncing feature is by now. You probably thought this application was only a music streaming app, didn’t you? You thought wrong. With Spotify Mobile you can actually sync your playlists to your iPod for offline use!

Syncing of playlists is a wonderful and unique feature. If you’ve got a slow Internet connection or you’re using the Edge network to stream the music you’ll probably be hating the quality. Syncing playlists fixes that problem within minutes. All you have to do is sync your playlist whilst at a wifi hotspot and off you go! So if you are using the 2G iPhone you should definitely sync all of your playlists for the best results.

Besides the playlists feature you can also search for songs, artists and even albums, which is just great when you’re out and about, and you want to listen to the latest and greatest music. The playback of music is just so clean and crisp and it comes in a music player that every iPod user is used to. It looks exactly like the iPod app on the iPhone and iPod Touch which as everyone knows is simple to use so you can easily warm to this application. Unfortunately when you quit Spotify Mobile and head back to the springboard, the music stops which is really annoying. Despite that, it’s definitely a wonderful app and I recommend that you check it out now!
