Photoshop Lesson: Editing with Adjustment Layers

Yes I know it has been a while since I wrote anything for the site. But don’t worry; I come barring a helpful video for those who want to learn some cool tricks with Photoshop. I won’t go into detail on my absence, but I am glad to be back.

In this video I will show you how to use a cool little feature called “Adjustment layers”. What are adjustment layers? They are layers that are considered to be filter effects with a masking ability. Meaning you can fix the image through a separate layer without having to use the undo feature so many times. Why is this helpful? Your history on Photoshop only goes back so far. Once you reach the limit of the undo button, there is only so much you can do.

Not only does this make adding and removing effects so much easier, but it also provides an excellent end result. There is a catch, to use this feature you need to have the brush tool selected. From there you only use two colors. Black and white. One removes the effect and the other adds the effect back.

There will be more videos like this to come. In fact the next video will be handling some image fixing tools.

How-to: Replacing Hard Drive on iMac G5

In this "how-to" video, I show you how to replace the hard drive of an iMac G5.

My hard drive died on my own iMac G5 I was getting ready to sell after replacing the power supply due to dead capacitors. Since this video, I've been able to install the Mac OSx 10.5 Leopard operating system, and it is currently for sale as of the publishing date of this post.

Still confused?

Bamboo Bottle Review

I always like to keep water at my desk when I am working online, but one thing that really bothers me is not having water that taste fresh. Most all bottles will of course hold your water in them, but will they keep your water at a cool refreshing temperature? The Bamboo Bottle by the Bamboo Bottle Company looks great, is easy to clean, and keeps your water or beverage fresh for a very long time.

Pixelmator For Mac Review

There are quite a few options anymore when it comes to choosing a graphics processor or design program. It's sometimes hard to determine which ones are worth the money and which aren't. I am happy to say that Pixelmator is a powerful application for the Macintosh that offers a variety of options similar to Photoshop, but has an additional feature that I wish Photoshop had, it has floating windows instead of a boxed-in feel.

WESC Maraca Black Headphones

Sometimes you have to learn the hard way that just because a pair of hradphones or earbuds look great doesn't mean that they will sound great. Fortunately, I am here with a video review of a pair of headphones that I feel are not up to par, especially with the price tag that they flaunt. Yes, looks do matter when it comes to headphones, but sound matters more, and good sound is just something you won't get from this pair of headphones.
