App Review: Alarm Clock Pro

If you're like me and you have problems waking up in the morning, Alarm Clock Pro from AppBee Inc. Will really assist you in dragging you out of bed for your morning coffee. The smaller features of this app are the ones that really play a key role in giving Alarm Clock Pro its Top 25 status. Attributes such as sliding your finger to dim the brightness and shaking your device to obtain a flashlight feature, show why ipod/iphone users will prefer using this third party app rather than the standard alarm clock.

One feature that I found to be really useful, was the fact that you can select your own music to set as the alarm tone. The reason that I'm very fond of this feature is that instead of having to wake up to the irritating sound of a xylophone, or the harsh screech of a car horn, I can now awake from my slumber to the sweet melodies of The Killers. The app also provides some good quality stock alarm sounds, such as an old clock and a school bell.

Another aspect of this app that impressed me was the ability to choose which days the alarm goes off on. The plus side of this is that if you don't have to be up for school or work until a later time on a certain day of the week, you can choose to eliminate that day from that alarm setting, as well as creating a separate alarm for that day.

Moving on to the more technical stuff, the graphics used for the actual clock face of the app, overall I felt were pretty effective considering the apps simple purpose. Users can select the colour of the LCD display from 5 different basic colours; cyan, green, orange, pink and red. Users can also choose to display the day of the week on-screen.

The only negative feature of this app I managed to pick up on was the fact that leaving this app open, really ate away at the battery life of my ipod touch. So if you're looking to use Alarm Clock Pro as a primary clock in the night, you would need to leave it plugged into a wall adapter to avoid your devices battery being below 20% full in the morning. Although the app does feature a setting which allows you to turn auto lock off, or set it to lock after a certain time. Locking your device will not however cancel out the alarm you have set.

Overall I feel that this app really serves its purpose as an efficient alarm clock. The price for the app is also very cheap at £0.59 which i think suits the apps good use of simplicity. I highly recommend this app to all ipod touch/iphone users who need help waking up in the morning.
