Are geeks stereotyped?

Lets face it, if your reading this blog your probably a 'geek' like me, but we're not those geeks with those huge dorkyglassesand the weird laugh (snort), you know what laugh i'm talking about!

Anyway, do you think that we 'geeks' are sterotyped of the types of geeks i have just mentioned? I mean were just average people who just have a love for technology, whats wrong with that? I don't see people who like sports and are good at sports being called any names....oh yeah i forgot, they're called 'cool'.

Anyway, i just wanted to ask you if you think geeks are stereotyped, or do you think that there should be a different name for 'us'? I mean we're not the kind of people who slit their wrists, the people who have an IQ of 1 or the people who tuck their shorts into their nipple high trousers. I'm considered to be a geek and I like music, sports and I have a social life.  So my opinion is that we are stereotyped!

Let me know of your thoughts!

I don't think people know enough about 'us', and that's the reason for making the stereotype. I agree that the stereotype is bad (although a majority of us, me included, probably have poor eyesight because of sitting in front of screens a lot), but the truth is companies in the media business won't 'win' on making a 'cool' geek without glasses, a quirky voice and weird clothes. It won't work.
