Kindle DX Revealed
Just today, Amazon revealed their new model of the Kindle E-book reader, the Kindle DX. The new model will be avaliable this summer, for the price of $489.00.
The new Kindle DX features a much larger screen than the previous versions of Kindle, at 9.7 inches. Another update to the Kindle is a built in accelerometer, which allows you to rotate the Kindle for books with wider margins.
The new Kindle DX also features an update in storage capacity, it now features a 3.3 GB storage capacity. Which is about 3,500 books. Also, unlike the previous models, Kindle DX has a native PDF reader, so you no longer have to convert you PDFs.
Is it worth it?
Personally, For the extra money I would say, no. But that is my personal opinion. The bigger screen offers more reading space, but it is an extra $130.00. But, if you are a full time student, the Kindle DX has it pros. The larger screen makes reading images in text books much easier than before. And the accelerometer is just another added feature for viewing large texts books in landscape view.
Overall
The new Kindle DX has a glorious screen, but for the extra cost I do not feel it is worth the money. If you are in need of an e-book reader and don't mind paying the extra $130.00, then I say go for it.
Pros over older models
- Much larger screen
- Greater storage capacity
- Built in accelerometer makes reading in landscape easy
- Has native PDF reading
Cons
- The larger screen makes it more bulky(Still smaller than a book)
- It costs $130 dollars more than previous models ($489.00 total)
- Keys are a tad bit smaller, which can be trouble when you go to type
- Only one next page button, which is on the right side.
The new Kindle can be pre-ordered here.

Good review Joseph. This really does make the Kindle that much more tempting, and I definitely want to see what happens with textbook content.
