Apple's Computer Design

Hey everyone. It's been a while, I know. But aside from that, I want to talk about something that is one of the most important aspects of a product in my opinion, and that is the design. I love design because it makes things easier to look at and even easier to use. Apple is know for having great computer designs that are very simple so it can attract all different types of computer users. All throughout the years, Apple has changes the designs of their computers both a little and a lot.

Sometimes there are simple design changes like when the white intel iMac was unveiled. Previously on the iMac G5, the ports were on the back of the computer and were lined up vertically. Now on the iMac, we see the ports are lined up horizontally. Another example is when Apple released the Mac Pro which was almost the same exact design as the PowerMac G5. Those are just example of Apple making minor adjustments to the design of their computers, but they also make very large changes.

We saw many of these major design changes in the iMac line. It started with the iMac G3, which was a larger/thicker CRT glass screen that had the computer attached to it. Then they introduced the iMac G4 which was a great design by the way. The G4 had a round shaped bottom/stand which contained the computer it's self along with all the ports and the CD/DVD drive. On top of the round stand came a metal pole and hinge concept which held the flat screen LCD monitor on top. The monitor had the ability to move in almost a 360 degree circle. After the iMac G4, Apple came out with the iMac G5 which was an incredible change in design. This computer held the screen flush and inside the surface of the computer. Both the computer and the monitor being connected were held on top of a metal stand which was in an almost "L" Shape. This was a huge design change because it influenced many other PC companies like Gateway, HP, Sony and many more to build all in one PCs. Those were some giant design upgrades by Apple and although there were many, many, many more, I think you understand what I'm trying to say.

Apple has, in my eyes, always been leading over other companies in computer design. Apple has also been very successful with their iPod and iPhone designs but that is a whole different blog post. This has been one of Apple's strongest ways to get people to buy their computers. Though they come jam packed with great hardware and even greater software, Apple keeps it's design very simple and clean to attract the population.

Overall, what the whole point of this post is, where is Apple going now? We have seen them making a large amount of minor design changes for a couple years with a fewer amount of major design changes like the MacBook line. But, what can Apple change about their computers next? We just can't imagine what Apple is working on now, but I'm sure that when they announce their next product with a major design, we will be amazed. I guess we can finally say that computer design, and design in general, is the secret in drawing people to buy that product.

Thanks for reading, I hope I didn't bore you.
