Unannounced Xbox 360 Update
Earlier I made a post saying that it might be the best value to buy the Xbox 360 Arcade with the 60GB hard drive bundle. That was before I found out the Arcades had a little "update"...
Yesterday, 8/3/09, I went to Best Buy and actually purchased myself an Xbox 360 Arcade, thinking that it was a better value. When I got home and opened the box, to my dismay, I found that there was no 256MB memory unit, as well as no arcade game disc. I called up Best Buy and they said that "the memory was built into the system, and the games had to be downloaded online". "Well, that's not what Microsoft claims!" I said. I showed them on the Microsoft website that it said the 5 games come included with the system. Either way, I returned the system to Best Buy, got a full refund, and hastily left the store.
I then went to Wal-Mart, and went to see if they had the "right" Xbox 360 Arcade. The manager at both stores both told me "no, the bundle with the games hasn't been stocked here for a couple of months."
I like the Xbox 360, but the people over at Microsoft seem to think it's neccessary to update in a STUPID manner, and not tell anyone! I asked all my friends who have 360s, and my own church, which bought an Xbox 360 Arcade, and they never heard of that.
The point is that Microsoft advertises the Arcade system to be ready to play for the first timers, out of the box, and comes with everything you need. However, the people at Best Buy told me that I could only download the games, play them one at a time, and couldn't even SAVE them on the 256MB "built in".
Really Microsoft? Tell us when you do something STUPID.
Leave a comment if you HONESTLY have heard of this "update".
