Halo 3 ODST - In Depth

If you pay attention to the gaming world, then you’ll probably know about Halo 3: ODST. Halo 3 ODST, formerly known as “Halo: Recon,” is the next game in the Halo franchise. In ODST, you take the roll of “the rookie,” an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. As The Rookie, you will make your way through the city of New Mombassa. On your way through New Mombassa, you will find clues unraveling the mystery that is Halo 3 ODST.  When you find these clues, you will then take the roll of another ODST at another location inside or outside of New Mombassa. As far as the campaign in ODST goes, it could pass as better than Halo 3’s. A new feature in ODST is called the visr (visor.) The visr allows you to see easier when in dark locations. It is also ideal for finding clues unraveling the mystery behind ODST. While in the visr, enemies are outlined in red, and allies are outlined in green. Also new in ODST, is the pistol. Along with the brand new SMG, the pistol has a scope, making sniping grunts easier, and a silencer. These two new guns, along with the VISR, make ODST a must have for Halo fans. In this version of Halo, Bungie took out Matchmaking, and designed a new gaming mode dubbed “Firefight.” In Firefight, you will face endless waves of Covenant. You’ll get everything from a simple grunt, to hunters and brute chiefs. After you complete a round of pure hell, a new skull will turn on. “Turning a casual covenant make out session into a test of your manly powers” - Sgt Avery Johnson. If you don’t know what a skull is, they are difficulty multipliers. One makes the enemy throw grenades like crazy, another makes them dodge all danger. You getting the gist of it? Now, as for Matchmaking, ODST comes with a disk that has all of the maps on it, including three new maps never been released before. This disk is basically Halo 3, without the campaign. I give Halo 3 ODST a solid 10 out of 10. The campaign is SOLID, firefight is amazing, and hey, it comes with free maps! BUY!
