2010 Wildcard Weekend Review: Game #1. New York Jets @ Cincinnati Bengals

Hello everyone!  I just decided that I would give you my impressions on what happened this past weekend in the National Football League (NFL).  So, let's get started!

Game #1. New York Jets @ Cincinnati Bengals.

In this game, the Jets defeated the Bengals in Cincinnati, 24-14.  Only two guys had a big game on the Jet's offense.  The first of course, was Mark Sanchez.  If you don't know, Mark Sanchez is a rookie quarterback this season, and he was the only one to make the playoffs, or at least lead his team to a winning record, which was 9-7.  Over the past 8 13 weeks, Mark Sanchez had struggled, throwing 20 interceptions total in the regular season.  This game however, was a completely different story.  In this wild card matchup, he went 12-15, 182 passing yards, and one touchdown pass, with zero interceptions.

The next key Jet on offence was Shonn Green, a rookie running back.  Shonn Green ended the day with 21 carries, 135 yards, and one touchdown.

The Jets had an outstanding game on defense, but one performance topped all of the others.  That performance was put on by Darrelle Revis, the starting cornerback.  He had covered Chad Ochocinco all day, and did a very good job doing it.  Ochocinco only had 2 receptions for 28 yards, thanks to Revis.  Revis had also picked off a pass intended for Ochocinco early in the game.

On the other side, the Cincinnati Bengals only had one good performance, and that performance was put on by Cedric Benson, the starting running-back for the Bengals.  Benson, who is more of a power runner, ended the day with 21 carries for 169 yards, and a touchdown, finishing the game with an eight yard rushing average.  This was the highest average in this playoff game.

My Wildcard Game #1 Award goes to: Mark Sanchez.  With everything on the line, Sanchez really pulled through, and he proved exactly why he was drafted as a first round quarterback.  Congratulations, Mark Sanchez.
