Use for your old iPods

If you’ve owned an iPod before and you got a new iPod Touch or iPhone this year for the Holidays, you’ll probably be switching all your music and movies over to your new device. However, there is a way you can make great use of all the iPods you own instead of throwing them out.

For example, I had an iPod nano since 2006 and in 2007, I got the iPod Touch 1st generation model. At first I transferred everything over to my new iPod but recently, I’ve been really low on space since both of them are 8GB models. So, since they both work, why not distribute the media over both devices to save space as well as getting some other advantages?

You might be thinking “Wouldn’t that be a hassle?” But, from experience, I haven’t had any trouble at all. Most of the time, I use my iPod for applications like WordPress, Facebook and Tweetdeck as well as games. I also use the Touch for movies because of it’s wide screen and great resolution. And, because I rent movies for the most part, I have plenty of extra space for more applications.

How did I distribute my media? I used my Nano for music and nothing else. This saved a good 4 gigabytes of space on my iPod Touch. On my Touch, I left my applications and movies. The Nano is also great for music only storage because of the click-wheel feature. If I’m on a ski lift or just lazy (it’s not the often I promise), it’s easier to use the click wheel without taking the device out of your pocket and risk dropping it.

So, when I’m on ski bus for 2 hours, I’ll use my iPod Touch to watch a movie or play a game. But, when I’m on the slopes or on the lift, I’ll bring my light-weight Nano for listening to music. If you have an old iPod and a brand new Touch, why not consider conserving some space and reusing your old device?

Or if some people don't want to do that they can use they're old iPod as a hard disk and carry some files around like a flash drive or something.
