Apple's Latest Creation: iPad

January 27, 2010 is the day Apple have enchanted the technology world. The rumoured touch screen device, which fills the gap between the iPhone and the Macbook has been given the name of, iPad. This 9.7" IPS LCD touchscreen device has the base memory of 16GB going up to an amazing 64GB, now for a mobile device, you may be thinking this is small, but it's not for a device that is only half an inch thick.

The iPad is similar to a digital photo frame, but this a laptop, with only one side, a touchscreen keyboard which is almost life like and the usual specs from Apple as well as topping it off with apps available from the App Store.

You may be now asking, "Isn't this a big iPod Touch?" Well, does a iPod Touch come with 3G? No! Does it offer you a mobile mac experience, without cluttering up your desk or space? Yes! Is it wireless? Yes! With Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11n wifi, don't think you'll be lost in communication.

The iPad is available in 60days (90 days for the 3G model) and starts at $499 (£300 for 16GB) $599 (£370 for 32GB) and $699 (£432 for 64GB). 3G Pricing; starting at $629 (£388 for 16GB) $729 (£450 for 32GB) and $829 (£512 for 64GB)

Lets see the product in our hands now, Apple!

I'm pleased to say it way surpassed my expectations. Can't wait to get me one of these. And in my opinion, it's a bargain! But then I am a fanboy :)

@ElliotFraser Yeah, I would love one of these, but I'll have to wait too see when they are released in the UK! Hopefully before my birthday in August!

Worldwide release in 60 days according to macworld.com - so in theory in the UK at the same time as the US. Not sure the pricing will be comparable though, I think we're looking at more than a direct dollar exchange on the sterling prices...

@Tom Thanks for the information on the release and shipping times for the US & UK. I calculated the UK prices based on todays exchange rate, so we can estimate the final UK pricing.

no front-facing camera, no multi tasking, and the same iPhone OS on a bigger screen. i'm really disappointed.. i was more thinking of a multi-touch version of snow-leopard. I will never buy this product, simply because its useless. the only people I see using it is super-apple enthusiastic people. The combination between a Macbook and an iPhone is ridicules. you can't compare it to the high functionality of an Macbook and you cant compare it the the mobile abilities of an iPhone. sincerely, apple blew it.

@Tom & Jonny, even if the prices aren't exactly $ - £ we can buy them from the US as they're region free.

@dan yeah, I followed the camera utility on my blog post and your opinions are valid although I see graphic designers using it. @ElliotFraser true
