Google Chrome, not so fast!

I have recently tweeted about what I want to talk about in this blog post. I'm currently using a Mac, running Snow Leopard with all the latest updates and it's in Wifi. My internet is provided by BT (British Telecoms in the UK) and I expect a 8mb (megabyte) service when I get (usually) 4-5mb. Anyway, enough rambling.

I tested the speed between the Chrome browser, which I believe is still under the BETA release and the traditional Mac browser, Safari 4. I found a significant difference between the speed the 2 browsers were receiving while they took the speedtest side by side.

To the left we have Chrome and Safari is on the right.

As you can see, Chrome drops the download speed dramatically whereas Safari keeps it strong. I know Google Chrome is still in BETA, but I think this is either a definite bug or something is wrong with their browser.

@KevinNunez I see Chrome is a little better at the upload speed but Safari is better for the download speed. Weird!

Just proving to you that it doesn't matter what browser you use. Internet speeds generally have nothing to do with what browser you are using. I got 20.81 down 3.97 up on Firefox, 20.86 down 3.92 up on Opera. I think we all know by now, Internet speed fluctuates.

Super slow speed on Carphone warehouse (Aol) broadband.... 3.18 down, 0.37 up (safari)

compared to 3.19 down, 0.36 up (Chrome) - i see no difference!

@Aidan hmm, it must just be me, but it's strange how it is only me. Same slow upload speed as me though

I actually have the opposite opinion about these two browsers. I have been using Chrome as opposed to Safari on my MacBook Pro for the last month and a half. Chrome has been waaaayyyyyyy better for me, Safari is always glitchy for me for some reason.

@Kyle I've never noticed any glitches about Safari so far. I'm thinking switching to Chrome, and since I've restarted my Mac, I don't get speed issues between browsers now. Just weird about the situation before.
