2 Week MacBook Review

I received the white unibody MacBook for Christmas 2009. I am so pleased with it. The specs are as follows:

  • 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB DDR3 memory
  • 250GB hard drive1
  • 8x double-layer SuperDrive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
  • Built-in 7-hour battery2
  • Polycarbonate unibody enclosure

I am going to do a pro and cons for my 2 week review (A full review will follow soon):

Pros:

- Excellent hard drive; only using 70gb out of 250gb that comes standard on the machine!

- Exceedingly fast startup and boot down time!

- The wide variety of software; i use to be a PC user and was very limited!

- Excellent bright LED screen.

- The best trackpad i have ever used!

- Excellent Polycarbonate unibody enclosure

- Excellent battery life. I ran an experiment to see how long it would really last. It lasted for 6.36 mins out of the 7hr that apple says.

Cons (Not many at all):

- The Polycarbonate unibody enclosure scratches very easy! I will be purchasing a speck seethru shortly when they become available in the UK.

- The range of ports is very poor.

- No battery indicator which i would find very usful to be able to see battery life without turning the machine on!

- No infrared sensor which mean i am not able to use the apple remote which i would have found very useful!

Thank you for reading. Please follow me on twitter @emma07jones. A full review of the MacBook will be up soon.
