Why the iPad can be the best eBook reader in the world

Everyone is griping about how the iPad doesn't have an e-ink screen, and that they'll have to read on a painful, backlit, LED display.

LED is actually very pleasurable to read on…almost as much as e-ink is. Switching from a fluorescent backlit LCD on my PowerBook to an LED backlit LCD on my MacBook Pro, and later the LED Cinema DIsplay hooked up to my Mac Pro, was like night and day. You're eyes barely strain when reading for hours on end, and the text is so crisp, it's like paper.

The iPad will have an LED backlit screen as well. Reading books on it from the iBookstore will be amazing.

But that's not what's going to make it a killer device.

Because it runs iPhone apps, it'll run the Amazon Kindle app, as well as the Barnes and Nobles app! It will have access to 3 major libraries! Any book that can't be found on the iBookstore can be found on Amazon or BN. Not to mention, this way, you can KEEP your current Amazon Kindle books, if the iPad is replacing your Kindle!

Oh, the possibilities.

LED is not a pleasure to read on verse kindle "paper like" screen. It will hurt your eyes after a while.
