Microsoft rolling out EU Windows 7 Ballot Screen next week...
Microsoft has revealed the European Web browser choice screen that the European Commission forced it to include as part of its antitrust investigation settlement will start rolling out sometime next week via posting on it’sblog.
Dave Heiner stated that the design and operation of the screen “was worked out in the course of extensive discussions with the Commission and is reflected in the commitment that Microsoft made.”
The UK, Belgium and France will be getting the first tryout of the ballot screen, which will be rolled out sometime next week via Windows update. The rest of Europe will receive the new ballot screen in a phase beginning from the 1st of March. As well as the ballot screen popping up, Internet Explorer will be automatically “unpinned” from the task bar as part of the process.
The web browsers are listed accordingly in random order to comply with the EU agreement, so that favouritism is not shown towards Internet Explorer or other browsers.
If your a Windows 7 user, be sure to see the screen above sometime next week!
