More Windows Mobile 7 rumours?

There are plenty of rumours flying around about Microsoft announcing the features of the upcoming WindowsMobile 7 later this month at MWC, and now the first significant rumours have been spread ahead of launch. Although nothing has been confirmed, PPCGeeks have received what they describes as some “truly amazing information” about what’s now apparently known as Windows Mobile 7.

According to the site, Windows Mobile 7 will sport an interface that’s “very similar” to that of the Zune HD, along with a complete revamp of the start screen, and a User Interface (codenamed “Metro”) that’s described as “very clean,” “soulful,” and “alive.” Perhaps just as notably, WindowsMobile 7 apparently will not support multitasking, with applications instead simply pausing themselves when in the background (there will be support for push notifications, however).

Microsoft will not be adding support for Adobe Flash (At least to begin with) but is instead focusing on Microsoft’s own brand SilverLight.. both natively and in-browser. There will be NO backwards compatibility for older WindowsMoble applications, although there are apparently “high hopes” for porting them to the new platform eventually.

With addition to this, the OS is said to have full Xbox gaming integration (including gamertags, avatars and, yes, achievements), full Zune integration, full support for social networking, a Marketplace similar to that of the Xbox and a web browser based off IE7 which is rumoured to be faster than that of the iPhone 3GS. What we apparently won’t be seeing at MWC, however, is any hardware running WindowsMobile 7, as the announcement is said to focus solely on the new user interface .
