Twitter and what app?

This is the start to a three part series. I’ll be reviewing 3 twitter applications for Mac OS X. Tweetie, Tweet Deck and Twitteriffic. Thats a lot of Tweets! So to start off I’ll be running you threw Tweetie.

Tweetie is a sleek and streamlined application for Mac OS X that allows you to access Twitter from your dock. Tweetie is also an application for the iPhone, but in this series i’m going to be concentrating on Mac Apps.

Starting off with it may just look like a basic twitter client, but it isn’t. Hidden behind magic doors you can access many functions from being able to recorded a video to post along with your Tweet, to shortening a Website link using (Bit.ly). To me these features are crucial as I post many links threw out the day.

Now Tweetie comes in two versions. You can get the free download of it or pay $19.99 to remove the advertisements in the client. Now that may just have put you off but it shouldn’t. When I say advertisement, I mean 1 at the top of your twitter stream every day. Only 1, it doesn’t even stay there the whole time. It leaves after awhile. So why pay $19.99? I don’t know.

There really isn’t anything about Tweetie that i don’t like. I don’t see the need to add or adjust the layout of it. It is perfect and suits my needs.

Out of 10 i would personally give it a 9/10. Yes it is perfect, but it isn’t so perfect that it will get a 10/10

I have liked and used Tweetie on the OSX platform but I much prefer a client that you didn't review, Echofon. You should check it out since it has a quicker refresh time for tweets than the 2 minute refresh time on Tweetie and a much fresher UI!
