The New MobileMe UI

I've been a MobileMe subscriber for almost a year now and I have always loved the way it syncs everything like email, contacts, calendars, and files with all your devices. One big downside was the MobileMe web apps were very slow on the browser. It seemed that Apple cared more about the look of the web interface than performance. I would always access my MobileMe mail on the Mail application, and my calendar in iCal, and so on.

A few weeks ago, Apple invited a few members to use the new beta mail. I was invited and I got to experience the new MobileMe mail. I like it a lot better than the old mail. It may not be as beautiful as the previous version, but it's a lot faster than before.

Last night, me.com was down for maintenance. When I got back online all of the MobileMe web applications have been rewritten and they perform a lot faster than before. The new MobileMe mail has also went public.

There's no longer the navigation bar at the top. Instead you click the MobileMe icon on the top left and all of your web applications will be visible in the center. It's just like pressing command+tab on Mac OS X, but this is on your browser. This gives you a great Mac OS X like experience on the Web.

So far, I'm liking the update and have no complaints. If you're a MobileMe subscriber, log in at me.com and experience the new MobileMe changes. Happy surfing!

This looks awesome, almost makes me want to get mobile me. Wish it wasn't so expensive. Great write up.
