Mountain Dew in the UK?

After hearing endless stories about Britvic planning to relaunch the popular USA energy drink, Mountain Dew, here in the UK, I came to the conclusion that they were all untrue.

Just a few moments ago, I decided to take a walk to the local shop. I planned to get a drink and maybe a snack too, but my attention was caught by a bright green bottle in the drinks section. I walked over to see what this unfamiliar drink was...Yeah, you guessed it, it was "Mountain Dew Energy."

After "Googling" this relaunch, I actually found that this drink had been around for over a month! I was shocked that I hadn't heard about this, but it was a nice surprise nonetheless.

In addition, I also came across the fact that the UK version of Mountain Dew Energy actually contains more caffeine (2.5mg more per 100ml) and also uses an alternative colouring that is named beta carotene, whilst the US variation uses tartrazine.

I hope that this article has been fairly interesting to you, as I found it quite strange that it was only made available again in the UK in the past few weeks whilst its so commercially successful in North America. Thanks for reading!

The petrol station up the road from me was advertising it. I went in to get some and the woman said they sold out in the first day of selling it!

Sainsburys are the only place i've found selling it so far. (Lancashire)

I bought it at a local newsagents, but I believe some BP petrol stations and Sainsbury's are selling it too.

Hasn't this already been posted on the social blog?

Hi,

Are you sure that wasn't the iPhone Jack? :)

Anyway I too have had a fair couple of bottles of it now, by the looks of things its equivalent to Mountain Dew Throwback, which was my favorite in America.

Glad to see we finally have it here in the UK though, just wish more of the larger stores had faith in it. It's so hard to find by me :(

Take care
