I'll be Switching to Mac Soon

Recently I have been encountering "blue screen" problems with my computer. When surfing the web, watching a podcast, or typing up a document, the screen would go black. After a few seconds, a blue screen would show up saying that there was a "fatal error" and that it was "dumping my files to the trash." Before anymore of this "file dumping" occurred, I would just hard boot the computer down. I'm not too sure what this exactly means, but it's happened four times so far and it will probably happen more.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm currently running Vista and my brother who is running Windows 7 has also had the same problem. Soon I'll be purchasing a Mac for college because I need the Mac specific software. I know Apple says that virus and crashes don't happen on a Mac, but is this true? With more people switching to a Mac, the "hackers" are going to follow them.

The Mac sounds like the perfect choice after all the Blue Screens. Hacks are rare from my experience. Also, I have never encountered any type of virus and my Mac has Kernal Paniced one time. But, it was my fault for it doing so.

I've been using Mac for 4 years now and not once have I come across a virus. Sometimes an application will freeze up and you'll get the "Spinning Beach Ball of Death" but that's easily fixed by force quitting it. I don't think I've ever had the whole system freeze up.

I own a Mac and it's the most stable Operating System I've ever used. I've been using it for almost a year and haven't come across any virus. Some applications do crash from time to time but it's not a big problem. I say go for it.

Macs can get viruses and they do crash. every OS out there does. have you tried googling the blue screen? that could come up with a solution...

I agree with Zach, there is no perfect OS. They all crash and have there share of problems and ALL have viruses.

Yeah, Mac OS X is nowhere near perfect, I've had my fair share of problems. I'd say Windows and Mac OS X are just about the same.
