Editorial: Why the HP Brand Sucks

I once thought HP was a respectable brand. It once was. Clearly HP dominates the printer market, and they seem to be in bed with Monster and the Beats by Dr. Dre. If you asked me six months ago what the best brand was in terms of affordable Windows machines and/or printers, I would have said HP hands down.

Not the same case today.

A few months ago, I purchased an HP laptop for $549 and a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 for $299. I bought them at the same time, and was happy with my decision at the store. Took them both home, set them up with no problems, and everything just worked. Sounds peachy, right?

Three months later, the screen on my HP laptop displays 3 lines of dead pixels. Then the 10-key stops working. Then the audio goes. This all happened in the span of a week.

I Called HP. They repaired it at no cost, but I was still not happy. No computer should have that many problems for no reason. It was treated very well, was never dropped.

A month later, the OfficeJet Pro starts paper jamming for no reason. I know paper jams happen but it would jam EVERY TIME I would go to print something.

The paper jamming stopped one day, when it would no longer catch paper.

That same day, my HP PhotoSmart printer on the first floor stopped working completely. Would not even turn on.

Needless to say, I no longer use HP. I got all HP products fixed under warranty, and then sold them on Craigslist as-is. I never got a replacement for the big OfficeJet printer, as I saw it was not needed. I did replace the PhotoSmart with an Epson printer. And it works just fine.

HP. Hope and Pray it works.

Totally agreeing here. I've had this HP laptop for a few years and have had tons of problems. The power adaptor is the flimsiest box of plastic I've seen in years, the left click button on the mouse pad broke for no reason, and the screen has droplets of moisture behind it and the seems split apart on one side, causing the spring mechanism that holds the screen up to fail, and making these weird alternating pink lines appear on the screen whenever touched. I'll never buy an HP Laptop again, i have had good luck with their printers though.
Great post Danny!

If only Apple still made printers.

Toshiba or Sony laptops. Canon printers. No problems ever. And if you do have problems, it's much easier to get local help as opposed to calling half way around the world.

These people must treat their computer very poorly, because I have never had any problems with my HP computer, which I've had for over 2 1/2 years now. My HP PhotoSmart printer has had no problems either.
I treat my things very well. Every week or so, I dust off my computer and printer, because computers tend to become dusty. I have never had any problems with HP and never will. I hope you guys come out and tell the truth that you treated your computers and printers very poorly, so you can stop lying about HP.

I've had a bad experience with one of HP's products but I can't say that the HP brand is a terrible brand...Just because one product of HP's failed on me doesn't mean I have to be judgemental about all their products being terrible.

Back to the point, a HP slimline desktop computer failed on me, it came up with a VGA display faulty and I had searched it up on google with said that the HP Slimline models have a defect which there are faults with the onboard VGA.

They are booming with their printer ink jets though.
