Eightbit.me Images with Photoshop

There is a large trend going through Twitter like wild fire at the moment, Eightbit.me.  Eightbit.me is a really fun service that allows users to create a virtual 8-bit avatar. The art-style is great and they have a pretty good selection of features, even though it's still in the beta stage.

Eightbit.me is only available to those who have received an invite from another user. It isn’t too difficult to find an invite thankfully because every invited user gets 5 referrals for other people.  If you need an invite please send me an @reply on my Twitter. I will give you one if I have one available. The only downside I see to this service is the fact that you can’t download a high resolution version of your avatar. They may add this feature in the future I’m guessing, but who knows, they may not.

I made this pretty easy to use Photoshop document that you can use to create a larger icon. I set each square pixel to its own layer. I then grouped the different pixels into their own folder based on row. Just change the color of the different layers to create your avatar. TIP: Right-click on each layer thumbnail and click "Select Pixels."  It will make your editing less complicated. You will understand what I mean when you play around with the document a bit.

Feel free to download the .psd file here.
