Appcookr: App Creation Alternative

A hot topic in the tech world today is creating and developing iPhone apps and smartphone apps in general.  As many of you may know, most apps in the Iphone App Store are created using Apple’s iPhone SDK package. Unless you know some amount of coding, then creating these apps seems close to impossible for you.

That’s where Appcookr comes in.  Appcookr is a new web based service that allows you to create and edit your iPhone apps without having to worry about dealing with coding and everything else that is required in the iPhone SDK development package.

With Appcookr you can add in things such as RSS Feeds, Photos, Twitter Feeds, Podcasts, YouTube channels and a bunch more.  This service is ideal for people with blogs and websites looking for a way to mobilize their site for their followers and viewers.

Appcookr is very simple to use,  all you have to do is supply an email and password to create a FREE account with them, then begin creating.  They may ask you to verify your email address, which is no big deal but just a heads up.  There is one down side to this service and that is the length of time it takes for the app to actually be approved and published to either the App Store or Android Market.

In order for your app to be placed in the mobile stores, it must first be approved by the Appcookr team itself. That usually takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks.  If the app is approved, it is then sent to either the App Store or Android Market depending on which platform you are creating the app for.  Once it is sent, it must then be approved by the App Store or Android Market which could take a few more weeks on top of the 4-6 it took to be approved by Appcookr.

This obviously isn’t the greatest way to creating an app, the best would be to learn some coding and create your own.  But Appcookr does provide a free alternative that gives you simple and pretty great looking apps at no cost to you, the developer.

If you are interested in learning more about the Appcookr service, head on over to their website at www.appcookr.co.uk and check it out.  Considering that the service is free, you might as well give it a go and see how it works out for you.
