The Anonymous Plan to Destroy Facebook

The Anonymous are a popular Internet hacking group, est. in 2003 and stemmed from the website "4chan." Their only goal is to bring destruction to the internet under the cloak of being, well, anonymous.

The Anonymous made a video press release claiming there will be a assault on November 5th 2011 that will bring Facebook. Anonymous apparently disagrees with Facebook and it's privacy settings and this is why it will "destroy" the popular social networking site. They are calling this, OpFacebook.

The voice in the video claims that Mark Zuckerburg has been selling user information to government agencys, so that they can spy on people from all over the world.

Frankly, I find this hilarious. If they can do it, props to them. But I highly doubt they can. According to Gizmodo a source said; "We've spoken to inside Anonymous' IRC have cast some heavy, heavy doubt upon the legitimacy of OpFacebook."

What are your thoughts on The Anonymous? And do you think they will go through with it?

Anonymous was the cause of the psn hacking. Although it was also Sony's fault for not having good web security. Facebook however might be a different story in this case. You would have to think that, someone like Mark would at least put more effort in developing a good security system to make sure hackers don't get in. Plus there is a big downside on anonymous part if they do this.

Think of it. Over a million people are registered to Facebook. If they hack into it they will have mass amount of data. This is ranging from phone numbers, contacts, addresses of all the people who are set up on Facebook. This would bring a lot more law enforcement.

Lastly I agree with you on this, It is quite funny. It seems like that the government doesn't have anything better to do than do go to Mark to get addresses of people that, if are registered as a united states citizen will already be registered to the governments database. So all in all, if they do hack it, trust me it will be back shortly. If they don't, then they need a new spokesmen or handyman. Conspiracy theories are not the anon way. :P
