What About New iPods?

With all these rumors of iPhone 5 and iPad 3 and the indroduction of Lion last month, not a peep has been mentioned about any new iPods. Around this time every year rumors are all over the place for iPods, but not this time. Last year, the biggest rumor for iPods was the shuffle getting a tiny touch screen. Of course it was true, being that it was introduced as the new 6th generation iPod Nano.

The reason why I bring this up is because I really hate the 6th generation iPod Nano. I bought myself a Shuffle this year for excersizing, but of course thats only 2 Gb. o have the first generation iPod Touch which still works, but Im really in the market for a Nano since I dont really need the iPod Touch for Apps anymore thanks to the iPad. I unfortunately do not think they are going to be updating any of their iPods this year for the first time in many. Apple used to be all about iPods and now its all about iPhone and iPad, which isnt nessercarily a bad thing, but the iPod line is still something to be kept alive, no one can live without an iPod nowadays.

But that got me thinking, does everyone use thier phones for music now? Most of my friends either have iPhones or Blackberrys. I personally have a Blackberry (Only because T-mobile USA does not support iPhone on 3G, only EDGE, so its not worth it to buy an unsubsidized one and then be on EDGE) and have around 100 songs on it, just for listening in the middle of the school day or something. But a lot of other people I know use their phones for music, even though everyone has an iPod, they use their phones for music because its just easier. So does that mean one day there will be the death of the iPod? That would be a really sad day, but I think the direction were going in, it might happen.

Let me know what you think in the comments. I want to know who agrees with me that one day there won't be iPods. Its scary to think about, but it's possible.
