What Apple Brought During 2011

As we begin the journey of 2012 we forget what 2011 actually provided to us. Lets talk about the well loved category, technology.

Technology is always becoming more advanced, with the ability to text without the physical chore of touching keys, clapping your hands to switch lights on and off, searching for the latest piece of technology via the internet and being able to purchase it with the click of a button. With this we can start with Apple's succession of 2011.

The iPhone 4S, love it or hate it - it's become the most "advance iPhone, yet". Apple introduced to the world a whole bunch of new features and applications one of them being Siri. What is Siri? For those of you who may not know what Siri is or it's purpose - I will explain.

Siri is a feature which allows the user of an iPhone send text messages, schedule meetings, make phone calls, send emails, control your iPhone and what makes this so unique is, it's all done by the users voice.

iOS 5, bringing 200 new features to your 3GS and above. Now I am unsure what all of these new features are as I have not searched my iPhone enough to find out, but with that said I am will list a couple of new features I am aware of.

Notification centre: With the notification centre you are able to see your notifications of course, from text messages, emails, calendar schedules, your local weather all with a simple slide down motion on the status bar. Apple have added this feature which in my opinion is brilliant and useful. One thing I would like to point out, I find that the style is similar to Androids slide notification bar.

iMessage: Personally, straight away iMessage is a simple yet genius idea. Yes Blackberry already have a similar feature with the ability to send messages to another Blackberry device which has Blackberry Messenger enabled for 'free'. The way Apple have taken this feature and made it more unique is by not charging extra for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users to have access to it.

Newsstand: Bringing the magazine to your device. This feature is a free pre-installed application, and it lets you select from a wide variety of magazines across the globe, but you have to pay a subscription to read the magazines. As I barely read magazines (I prefer reading news online or from a news paper), I can't really judge this application or give my personal opinion on it.  Although it does seem to be presented on my device in a neat way, I am sure I would enjoy using it to read magazines if I were to do so.

Now, I am skipping several features and applications which I am aware of but this is because I would like to discuss my most loved feature which I love!

PC Free: It's in the name. Finally, I can synchronize all of my music, videos and other content to my iPhone without the need to connect it to my laptop. Genius idea? I think so. For charging, I can simply use my wall plug at the end of the day as my battery lasts for at least 14 hours. For more information on iOS 5 you can visit this website: iOS 5

One devastating event happened in 2011, not just for Apple but for the world. Steve Jobs sadly passed away. Born on February 24, 1955 was an American business man and co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. He passed away on October 5, 2011 due to pancreatic cancer.

On the day of Jobs death, Apple released a statement to announce this sad event, "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

Apple have achieved many things over the years, including 2011. The loss of Steve Jobs stunned the world as it did with me. May he rest in peace.
