Unboxing: Apple Wired Keyboard

I have always used the Wired Apple Keyboard for my desktop setup and after about 2-3 years of usage, it finally decided to break. Well, so I thought.

The other day, I decided to reorganize the office and change some furniture around. While doing so, I had to completely take everything off my desk and set it in a safe spot. I thought all my electronics were safe, but I guess I was wrong. I don’t recall bumping into anything but when I plugged my keyboard back into my setup, I noticed it wasn’t working.

All the typing keys didn’t seem to work properly. Hitting “J” opened the downloads window while hitting the “delete” key showed that I was typing. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. At this point, it was 8:45pm and my local Apple store, which was 40 minutes away, closed at 9:30pm. Well, here we go!

I ran for my keys and wallet and rushed out the door to make it to the store on time. After breaking speeding laws to get there, I made it within 15 minutes to find myself running into the Apple store like a mad man! Purchased the keyboard and drove home. Got home exactly an hour after I left…talk about speeding.

When I got home, I noticed on my old keyboard that my “control” key was pressed down. Talk about an epic fail! After noticing the key was stuck down, all the weird things happening with my keyboard made complete sense. Either way, I decided to keep the keyboard. It always feels good to type on a new keyboard and now it’ll always have a backup if this keyboard does truly decide to break.

Moral of the story, check your keys before breaking laws to buy a new one. Oh, don’t forget to watch the unboxing!
