Regarding the Name (The New iPad)

It is March 7th, 2012, the day of the third generation iPad.  And, to a lot of surprise, Apple did something that I have wanted them to do for quite a while.  After some time, the numbers have gotten monotonous.
When it gets to the point where the average consumer judges something based on a number, instead of appreciating the product, it becomes frustrating.  As soon as a new number is slapped onto the end of the name, no matter what, your device is outdated.  What this new naming structure does is it brings professionalism to the iPad brand in a way that previously was only used for Macs.  People do not seem to see that Apple's products have always been "the new...", and suddenly there is a huge deal being made over this.  The product is not The New iPad, the next iPad will not be called The Newer iPad, as some have been questioning.  It's the new iPad.  The next will be the new iPad, leaving this one to be called the iPad (3rd generation).  This is not something that needs to be analyzed, torn apart, and questioned.  Apple is cleaning up the name, ditching the immature, unnecessary numbers game and allowing consumers to focus on the product and what makes it great.  So, in honor of this new era, I'd like us all to join hands, put the arguments to rest, and join together for a little history lesson (to push some sense into people).

I hope this helps to put an end to this unnecessary talk of "the new" being part of the name.  It's just an adjective used to describe something that is, well, new.
