3 Best Events for Android Fanatics
While Apple holds the title of most-bought mobile phones, Google is the one biting at their heels. Android is not only an operating system that is held on Google specific phones, but is being used on a wider variety of devices than ever before. Everyone from Samsung to Lenovo is putting them on their smartphones, tablets, and even smartwatches as wearable technology is coming into the market.
Jelly Bean is still popular, and KitKat has just been announced. So what is the average Android fanatic to do as they wait for that latest release? Check out the events happening for people just like them, of course.
1. AnDevCon San Francisco
Does your interest lay more in the development side of things? Every year a huge conference for Android development training comes along, this time in San Francisco. They have speakers, classes, tutorials and workshops, special events like the Women In Android Luncheon and a lot more. Over the course of three days you will be able to learn, catch up with the latest industry news from Google, and of course network with others in the field. It is pretty well balanced between the academic and social sides of the conference.
Where and When: Boston; May 27, 2014. Don't forget to book a hotel in advance via cheaphotels.org.
4. DroidCon Amsterdam
Not planning on being in London? You can also attend the Amsterdam conference from the same series. Enjoy your time in this historic city while listening to speeched by Marko Gargenta, Daan Van Berkel and more. There aren't many details yet on this one, but check back for more as the date looms closer.
Where and When: Amsterdam, Netherlands; November 24 - 26, 2013
5. DroidCon India
If those two don't work for you, there is still another option: Bangladore. They have already announced an all night hackathon, and the speaker applications are still open if you want to be one of their keynotes or run a presentation/workshop. Other versions of the series include Berlin, Tunis, Bucharest and Murcia.
Where and When: Bangladore, India; November 28 - 20, 2013
Why Android Events?
This is an obvious answer for anyone who is an Android fanatic. But for those who aren't so attached to the Google brand, you might be wondering why it is so important to keep up with them. They are only number two in the industry, after all.
Android may not make as many sales as Apple, but it is one of the most popular technology companies today. Google effectively dominates the internet, and their products are growing by the year. From their mobile OS that is being used on more devices than ever, to their collaborations with other companies, to their apps that extend from mobile to desktop and browser use, they are everywhere.
If you are a part of any industry that has mobile ties, you should try to attend at least one Android event. You will learn a lot about the way the industry as a whole is heading, so you can remain ahead of changes, not lagging behind.
