Evolution of Invention in the Last 50 Years
In the last 50 years between 1963 and 2012, the number of patent applications and patent grants issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office has increased by roughly 500%. As such, the patent and new product marketing experts at Innovate Product Design have come up with a very interesting infographic that explores the evolution of invention over the last 50 years.
In addition to noting the skyrocketing number of patent applications and grants, the infographic also puts a spotlight on some of the most important inventions of the last 50 years such as the TV remote control, the jet airliner, GPS technology, cell phones, and perhaps the biggest innovation of all, the internet. There is also an informative section at the beginning of the graphic that distinguishes between the three different types of patents including, Utility Patents, Design Patents, and Plant Patents.
We hope you enjoy this infographic as much as we did. If you have questions or comments on what you consider to be the most influential or important innovations of the last 50 years, let us know in the comments!
