The Internet Troll: This Generation's Boogeyman

The Internet is a magical place where dreams come true, wishes are fulfilled, and you can basically watch anything happen anywhere at given moment. Alas, just like with any sort of mystical place, it comes with its own monsters and demons. This is the Internet troll.

How many times have you enjoyed reading an article or watching a video only to have your experience abruptly disturbed by an extremely hurtful, hateful, and/or racist comment? If you have, then you have been hit by the Internet troll. The aptly named Internet troll is just that, a troll: a mangy, disgusting creature that hides under a bridge and screams out at passersby. It is the Boogeyman for this generation.

But who exactly are these people? What is it that they want? Why do they do what they do? Believe it or not, there is a way to understand these strange creatures.
