BeatEvolve for iPhone: Free Music Creation App

Have you always wanted to make music, but you don't know how? No problem, this app is there to make it easy for you. It allows you to use various instrumental sounds to orchestrate your own songs in any style you wish. Then you select your 'evolution rules', and watch as the music begins to change itself into something new.

How It Works

Using three layers, you choose from thirty-two different instruments and sounds to create a tune with your selected beat and tempo. Choose from six preset evolutions, including Game of Life by Conway. This will slowly begin to warp the song into something new, changing as you listen. You can save your different songs to swap with friends.

The interface is incredible simple to use and pretty self explanatory. Originally, there was some complaint about the sound quality of the instruments. But recently they were rerecorded for better definition, and rereleased with the updated version of the app.

All in all, this is a fun and easy to use musical entertainment app. At $2.99, it is one of the more affordable ones, as well. While it hasn't yet been integrated into social media, I wouldn't hold that against it. Just sitting around and making music that is evolving as you listen is cool.
