[Review] Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G3

I have never really found USB Sticks to be useful in my every-day life. I used to just use an SD card to store files on when going computer to computer, which sometimes ended up being awkward when the other computers didn't have an SD slot which was easily accessable. I decided to give the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate a try, to see how it would impact on my day-to-day tasks.

I must thank Kingston Technology for sending this product over for review.

When I first received the DataTraveler, it was packaged in the usual blister-packaging, which thankfully was easier than most to get open. When opened up you are presented with some instructions and the device itself. The feel of the device at first was quite impressive. The device is mostly metal with a white-plastic middle, with the metal being brushed aluminium. when first testing the drive to see what it could hold, I was surprised just how much storage was in this little stick. The drive is 32GB in size, with a 64GB size available if you need that extra storage. All in all I can fit my music library and my movies library onto the drive with ease, and have a little bit of room left over for other things like documents and pictures.

Upon running the drive through Blackmagic Drive Speed Test, I got 63MB/s Write and 162MB/s Read, I find this result quite good for USB3.0 when compared to the estimated 70MB/s Write and 150MB/s Read. This was using a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro with an SSHD Hybrid Drive inside.

Overall, I am quite impressed by the drive, it really has been useful for me, both when running via USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 (on my Playstation for example).
