8 Ways to Speed up your Computer.

Today, we live in the most technologically advanced society that is known to exist. Almost everything is maintained or controlled by some kind of computer. It can be a handheld tablet pc, or a desktop pc that you use within the comfort of your own home. However, even with the most advanced computer system there tends to be a slowdown within the machine which can be caused by a number of reasons. In this article/video I am going to show you 8 different ways you can speed up your machine. Hopefully even you can have a faster machine at the end of all of this. Also, be reasonable. If you’re running an old computer from back in 2004, this would be a time to upgrade. These methods will only work with Windows based machines.

  1. Perform Weekly System Defrag
although this may sound confusing, it is actually a pretty easy task. All you have to do is click on start, then go to all programs, accessories, systems tools, and open up disk defrag. Click on Defrag and it will analyze your disk and defrag it. When you install or run applications sometimes some fragmented pieces of the application is left. Disk Defragment increases access speed by rearranging files stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations

If you don’t like Windows preinstalled defragging software I would also suggest
http://www.piriform.com/defraggler. It’s made by the same people who made CCleaner. Speaking of which…

  2. Download CCleaner and clean your machine
In the past we have discussed the power of CCleaner, and it is no surprise it would be on this list. You can download CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner, all you have to do is install it and scan your computer. What CCleaner will do is scan for any file, registry, unused packages or content that is on your computer and tell you whether or not you should clean it from your computer. These files build up over time and will slow down your machine in the long run. So it is a good idea to run this scanner once a week to keep it up to the task.

  3. Speed up your start-up
There is an application you can download and install to not only speed up this process, but make it easier for those who don’t know how to use DOS to well. This application is called “Autoruns” and you can download it from here http://download.cnet.com/Autoruns/3000-2094_4-10744886.html. So is your computer only slow upon boot up? Maybe there is to many applications try to run at once. This will slow down your processor giving it a lot of work to do. You can use Autoruns to disable any application from running on startup. However I must warn you, if you disable the wrong program it can cause some minor issues. So be mindful of what you are disabling.

  4. Upgrade your RAM
Sometimes the most complicated problems can be solved with the simplest solutions. Upgrading your RAM will not just solve the slowdown error, but will allow you to open and run more processes. In the long run this can benefit both you and your computer. Here are some sites you can purchase RAM from.

  5. Uninstall Programs you don’t use
Remember back when you thought you were going to get started on a big project, but found something better than what you are currently using? Sometimes we forget to uninstall applications we really don’t need or use. This can result in a cluttered hard drive which can result in a major slowdown. Think of it like a bedroom which hasn’t been cleaned. There isn’t a lot of room to move around in resulting you to slow down your tasks.

  6. Check for HDD errors.
For this, all you have to do it go to your computer, right click the hard drive icon and go to properties, and click the tools tab and scan for errors.  Sometimes there can be a problem with your hard drive which could result in a slowdown. This could also prevent some further developing problems if there is any.

  7. Install anti-virus software
If none of the above worked for you, then you might have a malicious software problem or a virus. Most copies of Microsoft Windows today come with Windows Defender already installed, but if you’re looking for a new kind of software that might provide better assistance I would check out Avast, Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes, or AVG. Usually viruses or malicious software replicates itself to slow down your computer. So scan your computer and see if any problems are detected.

    http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage (AVG)

    http://www.malwarebytes.org (Malwarebytes)

  8. Run Action Center Trouble Shooter
If all else fails, you can always run this feature and see if it can point you in the right direction. Most of the time errors can be hardware or software related, but if you ever get stumped and nothing seems to be working, this should help you in some kind of way.

Well, those were eight different ways you can speed up your computer. I am not stranger to machines slowing down on me, and I thought it would be a great idea to share my input on this topic. I know not a lot of people are extremely interested in computers, and with the lack of interest and knowledge will result in them going to a specialist to pay to fix their machine. Hopefully these methods helped someone out in some kind of way.

Thank you for reading/watching.
