4 Scams To Look Out For In 2016

Now is the time of year when you should be looking to pull your plans together for 2016. The first few days of the year allow you time to bed in and many people decide that this is the ideal time of year to make changes to their life.

It is not as though the start of a New Year is a magic wand that will help you to make massive changes to your life in the blink of an eye but it is easy to see why it is a good time of year to renew your focus and try to do things differently.

One of the main reasons why so many people decide to make changes to their life at this time of year comes with the fact that many other people decide to do the same.

There is strength in numbers and if you are toiling or having a bad day, there will be other people around you who can provide you with support.

If you are looking to make changes by doing things alone, you’ll find that it is very difficult to do but when you look to make changes in life with the support of other people around you, you’ll find that it is an awful lot easier to do.

Do money worries dominate your thoughts?

A lot of people like to make changes with respect to money, and you can see why this will be the case. A lot of people are struggling financially at the moment, and this is why making changes to save money or be savvier with your cash makes sense. While some people are looking for ways to save money, a lot of people will be interested in information on how to hold on to their money. This is because there are many different scams to look out for and knowing what scams are available or are likely to occur can help you to minimise the likelihood of falling victim to a scam or con.

While there are many frauds which have stood the test of time, there are some frauds that are new or at least come to prominence. Various reports suggest that the following 4 scams are ones to look out for in 2016.

  • Investment Scams or Boiler Rooms Fraud
  • Loan Sharks
  • Scam ticket sites
  • Sales on social media platforms

It is not as if these frauds are new but they may not have been the most prominent in recent times, and this means that they will appear to be new to some people. This means that there is a need for people to make themselves aware of these frauds and to make sure that they know what to look out for.

Boiler room scams are still popular

Boiler room scams come and go with respect to common use but the fact that they can make an awful lot of money in a short period of time means that there will always be con-artists who are looking to engage in this form of fraudulent activity. This style of crime will often come across as being too good to be true but people’s natural desire to make money and the fact that the sellers can be very persuasive means that this is a fraud that can cost a lot of people, even when they have doubts about this style of crime.

It looks as though a combination of things in modern life will lead to a return of loan sharks. This is very dangerous for a number of reasons. First of all, people find that they end up spending considerable sums of money attempting to pay off loan sharks. On top of that, there is a very genuine threat of physical violence if you are unable to pay off a loan shark. This means that people may face very serious consequences when they get mixed up with these people.

There is going to be a big level of demand for tickets in 2016, be it major sporting events or music events and festivals. This will lead to a rise in scam ticket sites offering the passes to the big events but not delivering what they promise. There will also be a rise of people selling dodgy goods directly through social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

If you are looking to stay safe, you need to call on the best legal representation when it comes to fraudulent cases. Support from an experienced solicitor can make a massive difference in how you go about life and how you deal with the impact of fraud in your life.
