YouTube Sub4Sub...The good VS the bad

Ok, so to change the topic around on these posts I have started thinking. I have a lot of youtube friends who do sub4sub. It's not like their videos stink but no one watches them. So I started thinking about the downfalls of this. So this is why Sub4Sub stinks.

1. People wont watch your videos

The people who you are sub4subing wont watch your videos unless it is in their interest to. For example a comedian probably won't be interested in watching a video on how to clear your cache in Safari. So people won't watch your videos so it is like the subs aren't even there.

2. The subs you get will eventually unsubscribe to you

Like I said in the example above the people who you subbed4subbed(sorry about the sloppiness looking word) will get bored with your videos. Why would they want to see you if they don't like your videos? So therefore you would lose some subs

3. You will lose credit

No one wants to be made fun of. I, in the past have tried sub4sub and all I got was ridiculing by other people. I eventually got in a fight with one of my good friends about this. You don't want people thinking you are cheating on your subs.

So those are my reasons on why Sub4Sub kind of stinks. If you are thinking of sub4subbing don't. Earn your subscribers on your own and see what happens. It takes work but one day I am sure you will be succesfull :)

LogMeIn Ignition

LogMeIn Ignition
For iPhone and iPod touch users.

If you have ever tried the mac or windows version of LogMeIn you will know how useful it can be. Whether you are across the country and need to access your computer back home, which I have needed to do on many occasions. Infact, at university where I use my PC notebook I sometimes need to access my iMac back at home. I'm constantly using software remotely such as, Adobe Photoshop. Yes, it does slightly lag, but it's useable and gets the job done perfectly well. And on a side note, you may be wondering why not bring the iMac to university, well, I don't really have an answer for you. Anyway, back to the point, this excellent piece of software is now available for the iPhone or iPod touch, infact has been since early December, but I wanted to really talk about this because I feel, unlike many remote applications, it just works. No need to adjust firewall settings or opening ports. It works via the internet and requires no setting up. Except you need to register, but that is free and easy to do. So, what else is impressive? well for a start it works on Wi-Fi, 3G connection and even EDGE/GSM. So even if you are traveling whether it be on a train to work or car, you can still access your computer on the go. This freedom of remotely accessing your computer makes this such a great application.

As you can see from the screenshot, the interface is very simple to use. This doesn't mean it lacks features. You have all the tools to control your mac or PC. With the keyboard, you can choose different keys as apposed to the QWERTY keyboard,  for instance all the function numbers or 'ctrl', 'alt' and 'cmd' etc.... (Did that even make any sense? because it hardly made any sense to me). Anyway, By selecting the cog wheel, you can view settings to adjust the resolution bandwidth etc.

As it is, it's fully functional. Although the price may put you off (£17.99) it is well written software and hasn't crashed on me (yet). So if you are looking for something that works; does what it says on the tin, then I recommend LogMeIn Ignition.

Ustream App

Ustream App for iPhone and iPod touch

Today the Ustream.tv application was released. First, if you are into watch live streams via Ustream, I can strongly recommend this app for several reasons.  For a start, what caught my eye first was the quality of the live video. It's sharp, and providing you have a good connection; it should stream smoothly, which it did. The user interface of the application is clearly laid out with 'Top Live', 'Featured' and 'All Live' on the top and a nice search facility to the right.

However, nothing's perfect and there is certainly room for improvement. For instance, when viewing videos I would like the option of being able to fill the screen. Instead you get spaces either side of the video. In portrait mode, there are black spaces above and below; fair enough as the video is widescreen but when viewing it in landscape mode you still get black spaces however either side this time.

There were a couple of features that were mentioned in the application description on iTunes, it mentions that it allows users to login with their Ustream account. Well, for a start I haven't found this feature so if anyone has please say. Also, the description mentions that you send chat messages to the chatroom via the iPhone. I assume that you have to login, but still, there is no clear button showing - 'login' or something of that sort.

Overall, a neat application and I recommend anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch to try it. Plus, it's free, which is always good! I look forward to trying it out when Dave streams!

MINT SPEAKERS

Mint Speakers are an ipod music banging sound system, which takes up less space on your desk, and are very inexpensive. I was given this tiny box shaped speaker for christmas and was surprised to find out that it came with a wireless adapter that you could connect to a desktop or laptop( no need for drivers or what not) just plug and play. Cool, but i had these logitech speakers just hanging around on my desk{ great sound, but I was getting sick of the wires hanging from the top} I took down the big logitech speakers and hooked up the mint wireless speakers and the sound was pretty good.  Good to past on for a ipod speaker system and included a line in outlet to the T.V { which sounds great if your watching a movie and your tv is next to your speaker} Overall mint speakers are really cool and a great buy to getting a clean desk.
