The Offline Beginnings of Online Hacking

Ever wondered how the history of hacking culture started? Needless to say, the ethos that ‘nothing should be off limits’ has been around for years, so understanding the progression is certainly an interesting topic.

Roof and tunnel hacking in 1957 was a time for simply exploring off-limit areas on the MIT campus, but this was just the start. Advancements in technology can only mean one thing: there are more systems to hack! In 1971, early forms of ‘spoofing’ was discovered when Joe Engressia whistled down a phone in a very specific tone and was granted free long distance calls. Nice find, eh?

Demand for Ethical Hackers is Growing in the U.S.

While hackers are often associated with malicious acts, such as denial-of-service attacks and posting private information on the web, there are some “white hat” hackers which help governments and companies locate potential security vulnerabilities in their systems and respond to any security breaches that could happen.

As the United States government is facing a growing threat from cybercriminals, it also needs people that know how to secure their systems. Jailbreaking: 3 Great Tweaks

Today I've got a quick post about a few good tweaks for Cydia (when you jailbreak your iOS device, Cydia will install on the device) The first tweak is AndroidLockXT which lets you have the Android unlock screen where you draw a pattern, instead of the "slide to unlock" unlocking process. The next one is called Barrel, which let's you have different transitions when you swipe to go to you're next page of apps. I think the standard swipe is pretty stale, so this is an awesome tweak in my eyes. The last one is Infinidock, which let's you have more than the standard four applications in the dock. I think it's kind of useful. So, those three tweaks you can get in Cydia. Hope you found this helpful and will make iOS a better experience for you!
