How to Increase Speed, Battery Life, Hard Drive Space & Enhance iOS

Over time the performance, battery life, and hard drive space on our smartphones and tablets start degrading. In addition, using the same device on a regular basis can begin to seem old and boring. In this video, I show how iOS users can tackle all of these problems by performing some simple tasks on their device.

My brief review of the iPhone 3GS.

This past week, I got an iPhone 3GS. I bought the 3GS because it’s free with an AT&T contract. I think it looks and feels better than the newer iPhones. Also, since the iPhone 3GS is compatible with iOS 5, I felt that there was no reason to get a 4 or 4S. The iPhone 3GS has a 3 Megapixel camera with tap to focus and auto focus. The iPhone also has a VGA camera, which records 30 frames per second. The battery life is 5 hours talk time while using 3G, 12 hours of talk time while using 2G, 300 Hours of standby time, 5 hours of internet usage while using 3G and 9 hours of internet usage if using Wi-Fi. In the iPhone 3GS box you get the iPhone 3GS, documentation, Apple earphones, a dock connecter and a power supply. My personal thought on the iPhone is that it’s very fast and better than any other phone I’ve used. This phone is flawless.

iPhone: A History in the Making

Remember that day when you got your shiney new iPhone? No, I’m not talking about June 24, 2010 but June 29, 2007. June 29, 2007 was the day when Apple released the phone that would set the standard for mobile devices today. That device is known as the Apple iPhone. The iPhone back in 2007, consisted of 1 page of applications, a SMS app, the phone application, the terrible camera and a bunch of other useless apps. Since 2007, every release of the iPhone has been game changing.

In 2008, Apple released the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 3G featured the revolutionary AppStore, and brought along 3G capabilities via AT&T. In 2008, most of us rushed out to pick up this new iPhone in one of two colors, Black or White. With the release of the iPhone 3G,I knew the iPhone couldn’t go anywhere but up.

In 2009, Apple released the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3GS brought a ton of new features including, a video camera, a faster processor and of course, the useless compass app. The iPhone 3GS, included features that the original iPhone should’ve had from day one. Once again, the new iPhone 3GS was available in one of two colors, Black or White. I for one, wasn’t too thrilled about the release of the iPhone 3GS, due to the fact that I’ve had video recording and a compass since 2008 via a jailbreak.

Now for 2010, Apple decided to take the biggest leap since the original iPhone. On June 24, 2010, Apple released the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 is one of the greatest phones I’ve ever held. The amazing retina display, and the 5 megapixel camera will make any iPhone user go out and spend around $199 for this bad boy. Now, the retina display and the 5 megapixel camera aren’t nearly all of the additions to the iPhone 4. Also included in the iPhone 4 is a gyroscope, 2 cameras, 2 microphones and on yeah, FaceTime. FaceTime is iChat for iPhone basically. FaceTime is video chatting from your iPhone 4, to another iPhone 4 (via a WiFi connection). Honestly I can say that the iPhone 4 has set the standards high, and Apple has been doing that since 2007. The iPhone 4 isn’t just a new phone, but it’s like holding the future in your hands.

Now, as you can clearly tell, Apple, and the technology they produce has come along way since 2007. Every June, Apple announces a new iPhone, and this year I was actually excited to get my hands on one. For 2010, Apple has definitely set the standard high for mobile devices, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll see for 2011.

iPhone 4 Hands-on

Today we will be giving you a hands on of the iPhone 4. We currently own the 3GS, so we did compare it to the 4. The Retina Display is beautiful. Everything really runs smoothly, but reception has been an issue. For full details please watch the video above. If you want to see more content please check out our YouTube channel.

WWDC Overview

WWDC is an annual conference that is run by Apple in San Francisco. And like usual, Apple introduced one new version of their main product line. This was the iPhone's time to receive an update on WWDC. Here we will post a quick overview of what happened during WWDC, and then my personal thoughts about the event.

Steve Jobs walked on stage wearing his usual black shirt and blue jeans. He started the conference talking about the iPad, and giving us some numbers. He said that the iPad has sold over than 2 million units in 8 weeks. That's incredible for a device that many people used to hate and say it wouldn't be successful. Then he announced that iBooks could read PDF files. That's when the fun began, and Steve Jobs started talking about the iPhone. He presented the "brand new" iPhone 4, and highlighted the 9 main features. These features were:

  • The brand new design
  • Retina display
  • New processor (Apple A4 Chip)
  • Gyroscope
  • Better Camera (With 720p video recording)
  • iBooks
  • iAds
  • FaceTime (Video calling for Apple)
  • iOS 4 (With many new features)

In my opinion, it was a great event, especially for the developers that can now use these great new features to produce various apps. So concluding, the new iPhone 4 is not revolutionary, but it changes everything... All over again.
