Microsoft's New Misleading Ad

Microsoft has yet again released another "PC's are junk, but they're cheaper than Macs" ads. This one features Lauren (they can't come up with a new name?) and her mom trying to find a laptop with "speed, portability, and battery life" for under $1,700. She goes around a Best Buy (at least it looks like one) and browses through their selection of computers, and ventures into the Mac section. She picks up a Mac Pro (the ad does not tell the view it is a Pro, you can only tell by the name on the small price sticker that is on the screen for about a second) and says its $1999 price tag is too expensive, and it does go over her budget, which would be fine, if they told the viewer this is Apple's high-end product. What gets me angry is that Microsoft once again is attacking Apple's prices without giving the viewer all the facts. Also, why such the large amout of money in this one? I guess this is Microsoft's way of saying that you cannot get a Mac for under 1,700, but of course you can. This Lauren lady could have purchased a regular 13" Macbook for $1,299 or $1,599, both still under her budget.

Ok.
1. Get a Mac ads aren't exactly fully truthful either. So, deal with it. It is advertising, it is all about bending the truth!

2. IT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT!

Ok, sri.
1. Tell me how mac ads aren't truthful.

2. I'll bet you're a PC user.

3. You shouldn't be angry that Macs are better computers than PCs.

Get a mac ads make PCs sound like they don't do anything fun. I believe the original ones pretty much said they are only good for spreadsheets or something like that. PCs have a much larger software library than macs do, and they are the standard for computer gaming. I agree both ads are a little misleading, but just based on specs the Macs are a little overpriced, but you have to take into account the aluminum casing and the design an all that. Also they keep saying that PCs crash all the time and get viruses. I haven't had a virus for years, and never had my computer crash on me. According the the mac ads they make it sound like it happens all the time, and Macs also do crash, yes it is possible.

Don't get me wrong, I love Macs and wish I could afford one, but there is nothing wrong with a PC functionality wise. Also, a PC doesn't just mean Windows either... ( One more thing Windows 7 is looking pretty solid, I'm excited for it!! )

The white macbook is pretty portable and probably has way better battery life then most PC's out there. The build quality is of course way better as well.

I own a Mac, but geez you fanboys take things personally. First off, Apple started the attacks in their ads, now MS is firing back. What do you have to gain or lose with these ads? Do you have vested interest or stock in either companies? Use whatever you want to use, be it PC or Mac. To get worked up about an ad for a product is childish and pointless.

I agree with Hutch. You do realize that Apple was the one who started bashing Microsoft with their false advertising 3 years before Microsoft did it? Or did Apple brainwash your minuscule brain too fast?

They are overpriced, get over it. Why does Apple ram cost $50? Why does HP and Dell ram cost like $25.

Apple has to be expensive. Since they have less of the market share, they need to make more money selling each individual product. All I'm complaining about is Microsoft trying to make it seem like Mac's are extremely expensive, and you can't get one for under two grand.

As a computer company (matching up against Dell, Hp) they are doing great. They are making a good income and don't need more expensive hardware.
What you are talking about is the OS market. The only way for Apple to catch up to Microsoft would be to set OS X free. Apple doesn't want to do that.
