How To Get Tethering on Your iPhone
At Apple's WWDC, they officially announced the 3.0 software update with cut, copy, and paste, tethering, spotlight search, and MMS. Unfortunately it only took AT&T a few days to ruin the hopes and dreams of the 3.0 users with the announcement that they wouldn't support MMS or tethering in the U.S until late summer. Fortunately, some people have found a way around this situation. If you have an iPhone 3g or 3gs and would like tethering before the people over AT&T come out with an extra 25 dollars on your data plan follow these steps:
1. Grab your iPhone
2. Type help.benm.at/help.php in your iPhone in browser
3. Once open, scroll down the webpage and click on the Mobileconfigs download.
4. Scroll down the page until you get to your country
5. Click on your service provider, if in U.S click either AT&T or T-Mobile
6. Install the item from the page
7. Once done click the done button into your settings
8. Go to general, then network, scroll down to internet tethering, and you can switch your settings from their in your settings.
It has so far worked for me, and I have an iPhone 3gs, if it doesn't, contact me at krainess@yahoo.com and I will provide some assistance. I cant assure anyone that AT&T wont slap a huge data bill on you but so far I haven't received any huge bill yet. MMS should be available at the end of summer and a tutorial should follow with that opening.
