WebOS is Dead

A little bit under one and a half years ago, HP bought Palm for $1.2 billion. Today they said they will discontinue webOS devices becuase they haven't reached "internal milestones and financial targets." The TouchPad, Pre, and Veer are now officially dead. Nothing has been said about current units in stock of those units. Appearently, Best Buy was also sitting on a bunch of TouchPads they could not sell. HP also recently dropped the price in a move to sell more, but that failed.

HP is still going to "continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward." They basically saying they're done with webOS now that it's out of the smartphone market. It's not likely that webOS would be put on PCs or HP printers either.

Goodbye, webOS.
