Photoshop Resources

In today’s video we are going to be looking at some of the many websites you can go to for some Photoshop resources. Whether you’re an artist, web designer, or graphic designer, there are many sites and tools that are at your disposal and are free to use. However, even free to use programs have some kind of licensing agreement that may not allow for you to use it in a public based design. So be sure to read the websites terms and conditions to find out what you can or cannot do. To get you going on your way, the sites listed below are the websites mentioned in the video. If you have not watched the video, it’s okay. There is a description beside the links to help you get a better idea of what these sites are for.

(Brusheezy) http://www.brusheezy.com/ - A free website that has a variety of brushes, patterns, gradients, pictures, etc for you to use. There is a lot you can do with a bunch of Photoshop brushes including adding some extra effects or even digital painting. The shapes help with getting a flow of design, and gradients are just convenient to save you time from not having to creating your own.

(Dafont) http://www.dafont.com/ - If you’re a graphic designer or a web designer, fonts are key. Typography brings out the power of expression in design. This website allows for free fonts to be used in your designs. But be warned, they still have a policy. So contact the creator of the font you choose before using it in a production setting. Or read the policy. I am sure no one read that.

(PSD Tutsplus) http://psd.tutsplus.com/ - Are you new to the design field? Having problems understanding some of the concepts of what people want you to do? Would you like to learn more than just photoshop? Well, look no further. This website is a great tutorial website that teaches you everything from digital art to illustrations. The benefit to all of this, it’s free!

(CTRL Paint) http://ctrlpaint.com/library/ - This web site is much like PSD Tutsplus, however its more for the digital painting based portion of Photoshop. Something interesting for you to check out if you’re interested into this kind of thing.

(Fonts) http://www.fonts.com/ - Another fonts based web platform that isn’t so free. You have to buy the fonts on this website, but if you buy the fonts you buy the licensing as well. Giving you full on permission to use the font for whatever design you may have.

(Game Renders Forum) http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/ - If you ever been on a video game based forum a lot of people have what you would like to call “Signatures” or “Avatars” that are pretty much some unique design or a rehashed thing that they didn’t make on their own. Anyway, this website is great for getting renders of video game characters to use in your signature or what not. Renders are the characters themselves with no backgrounds. So you can use them more effectively instead of having to do all of this work yourself.

(My Photoshop Brushes) http://myphotoshopbrushes.com/ - This is another form of brusheezy. Give it a shot actually, may help you out in the long run.

I hope you find these sites somewhat useful. Have a nice day.
