Sony Sells Over 4.1 Million PS4's (ITT)
This week was the beginning of CES2015 (Consumer Electronic Show) and there was a lot shown within the last couple of days. With new and useful gadgets and applications being displayed, and the announcement of new 4K televisions you can see why a lot of people get excited to attend this yearly event. However with dish’s new network “sling TV”, a pacifier that can monitor your baby’s temperature and medication intake, to the possibility of desktop computer graphics being outputted on a tablet that fits in the palm of our hand, you can tell this year is just a bit more special
Sling TV is dishes solution to those who don’t want to pay for their satellite or cable service but still want to watch popular TV networks from the comfort of their own home. For $20/month you get to stream TV networks such as food network, ESPN, CNN, TNT, and Disney just to name a few from your internet. Or you can stream them from a streaming device like the Roku 3, Xbox One, and android or iPhone devices. This isn’t a bad idea actually. People who are sports buffs and don’t want to go through the hassle of getting the networks installed throughout their house can now have it in the palm of their hands.
The Pacif-I is another piece of impressive medical technology that alerts the parents of his/her child’s temperature or if they need to take their medication. Using low energy Bluetooth technology, this pacifier uses sensors and sends information to your smart device that you can set up manually to alert you about any important medical information about your child. For example, what kind of medication your baby is taking and how often does that child need to take it. Is your baby sporting a fever? No problem, it will alert you ahead of time. This piece of technology doesn’t feel like technology, and feels like an actual pacifier. So you can rest comfortably knowing that you’re not stick chunks of metal in your baby’s mouth. You can get one of these beauties for $40 from their website http://bluemaestro.com/product/pacifi-smart-pacifier/ .
Tablets have always been an impressive piece of technology in the eyes of many geeks out there. The Nvidia Tegra X1 aims to make those devices more impressive. This device provides twice the power of the iPad Air 2’s ABX while consuming the same amount of power. Benchmarks of this hardware show that this has the capabilities of sporting graphics of that of a desktop pc, and with a simple easy to use API it makes it easier to convert graphics into mobile friendly graphics. The Tegra X1 features a 256-core Maxwell GPU, 8-core 64-bit ARM CPU, and can handle 60FPS of 4K video, and it uses a 20nm process so it is fairly easy to benchmark. The Tegra X1 is already in production and should be available to tablet manufacturers in the near future.
If you’re a gamer and you love going back to the past then you’ll love this. Internet Archive has over 2,400 MS-DOS games you can play in your browser for free. Featuring games like Wasteland, Wolfenstein 3D just to name a few, you can go to archive.org and play these games and have fun with them. The only downside is that there is no manual, so you will have to do experimenting around to figure out the controls, and everything is still in the beta stage. You can also play Atari games and some classic pc games like Quake as well. So go have some fun! https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos_games/v2
Sony announced that they have sold over 4.1 million PS4 units. Although there isn’t a lot to say about that in general, it is impressive to see Sony selling their console like hot cakes at a fair price. As much as the PS4 looks solid, Sony’s security breaches always make me skeptical on whether or not to get the console itself. But with my brother being a Sony guy, I am always able to try new games on the console that is doing a good job in the sales market. So congratulations Sony on this achievement. It’s great to see you guys doing a good job like back in the PS2 Days.
There was a lot of interesting things shown at CES this year, and it still isn’t over yet. There will be a lot more to come even if it wasn’t shown at this year’s Consumer Electronic show. But with everything being announced so far, it gives us hope to see major improvement this year in the technology department. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video, and read this article.
