Why go GNOME?

(Not fully complete, It may be confusing to understand in some areas, give me a few days to clean it up and finish it

Have you ever wondered about going to linux, Ditching Windows, or maybe just keeping on the path, or whatever your reason. You've looked an seen there two common desktop environments, GNOME and KDE, Why go GNOME instead of KDE? Here I show you in pictures and in my experience why you may want to go with GNOME.

GNOME is probably in my experience basically one of the best desktop environments for Linux and Unix released of all of them for the inexperienced user, or the pro. At first glance, people familiar with Macintosh Operating System Seven, Eight, Nine or Ten might see some general similarities. GNOME in general has a very basic way of organization, It doesn't have basically any eye-candy with Compiz, But rest assured, Compiz brings it to life if needed.  It seems with GNOME simple is best. GNOME offers imagination and creativity and a dream put into reality of a desktop environment simple for all to use.

I will cover two things and add on another day. At the end is the summary of this article.

Menus:

GNOME offers a menu in some sort of a way comparable to Windows' start menu's expandable menu items. However, they are organized my category, and depending on who compiles and released GNOME in an Operating System form, This can differ when it comes to other part of the whole "GNOME menu". KDE offers a menu extremely similar to windows, But we'll touch on that in Why go KDE. Even control panel, or administrative or system control, whatever you prefer to call it "items" are in this menu form, not in a Panel or dedicated window by default. There are third-party additions for this.

File Browsing:

File browsing is as customizable as Finder, and looks like a simple Finder without the fanciness or Mac theme. It has nice tabs to do your file browsing. It seems more basic and user friendly at first the KDE's file browser.

Summary:

GNOME will likely appeal to users who like a basic way of doing things. GNOME is available in many flavors through distribution and is a different flavored foot every compilation (Don't worry about "taste", Even though the GNOME foot is pretty tasty.. I won't say anymore ;].. Oh and don't put that foot in your mouth... Uh.. Bad GNOME joke..)  If you're looking for some bloat of eye-candy, GNOME is not for you. It's so basic, yet it contains so much available and added with it, It's brought to life and ready to go. Experiencing GNOME is up to you, research, and the right distribution.

New iMac updates?

I ran across this on digg. It's something people were hoping for during MacWorld, but was delayed. Now there might be a late update for the first quarter of the year!  If you're planning on getting one of the new iMacs, this might be a reason to wait!

He're is the link from Apple Insider! (not my article)
