My Xbox Live.App (iOS) Not Compatible With iOS 6?

If you have been following me on Twitter (@OrestGPap) yesterday I installed the official iOS 6 Beta 1 on my iPhone 4S.

When I launched the "My Xbox Live" app it immediately crashed. My first thoughts were that the app may had some problems and that it needs an update, but no. I downloaded the same app on my iPod touch 4G which runs iOS 5.1.1 and it works perfectly. I re-installed the application many times but nothing new happened, it kept crashing. I am supposing that's probably an issue with the new iOS, but i am not sure.

Leave a comment down below if you have this issue or if you have iOS 6 and the app works perfectly. You can also do that by mentioning me on Twitter @OrestGPap.

Review: SwitchEasy TRIM Case for iPhone 4/4S

Today we are going to be taking a look at a very interesting case, called Trim, made by SwitchEasy for the iPhone 4/4S. Before the review starts, I would like to give a huge thanks to SwitchEasy for sending me this fantastic case out for review.

First of all, I was really impressed with the content of the box. Except the case itself, SwitchEasy provides the customer with two anti-static screen protectors, two universal dock adapter, an amazing video stand, two headphone jack protectors, two connector protectors, a microfiber cleaning cloth, a squeegee and user's manual.

SwitchEasy this time, combined protection and beauty. This case makes your iPhone look even more beautiful with its amazing color and also it is absolutely protective.

Installation process was very easy. All you have to do is slide the phone from the top to the bottom. Make sure to cover all the edges. Uninstalling is a bit difficult, but that's good because there are no chances the case to take off the iPhone while dropping or on daily usage.

Now let's take a look at the case itself. On the top the case has a cover for the lock button and you can install also the headphone jack protector in order no dust to come in it and generally protect it.

On the left hand side the case has a large cutout for the profile switcher button, and it covers the two volume buttons.

The whole right side is protected and it also has SwitchEasy's logo.

The case also has two big cutouts for the microphone and speaker and the customer can also install the USB import protector, for fully protection.

Taking a look at the back you can clearly see that it is transparent in order the beautiful back of the iPhone to be visible. It also has a large and deep cut-out for the camera and flash. Also the back is made by a very hard material which is very protecting.

The case also has "lay on the table" design which means that if you leave your iPhone facing the ground the screen won't have any contact with it. For more protection I really do recommend you to install one of the screen protectors that you are provided with the case.

Now let's take a look at the benefits and cons of the case itself.

Benefits: It provides the user with fully protection, the case feels very nice in the hand, it does give a very beautiful look to the device and it gives you full access to all the buttons and imports. Also it comes in several colors such as black, red, orange, yellow, purple. The one I am using is the blue version.

Cons: The only con with that case is that sometimes it drops the Wi-Fi and 3G signal.

Overall I give this case a 9.8/10, because it gives the iPhone fully protection and an amazing new look. Up to now it's my favorite case.

iCarbons iPhone 4S - Black Carbon Fiber Review

In today's article we are going to be taking a look at the Black Carbon Fiber skin for the iPhone 4S by iCarbons. Before the review starts, I would like to give a huge thanks to iCarbons.com for sending me this product out for review.

After using the phone with the skin installed for a whole week it's time to give you my honest review on this product.

The "iCarbons iPhone 4S - Black Carbon Fiber" skin, is one of the best review units I’ve ever got. The product has many more advantages than its disadvantages.

Let's start the review with what you will find in the box. In the box you'll find all the parts of the skin. One for the front, one for the back, one for the metallic antennas and two stickers for the Apple logo in the back and it’s twig (white & red).

Installation process was very easy. All you have to do is carefully place the skin on the device around the imports, speakers, cameras and buttons. If you fail installing, you can take it off and re-install it. The skin will be fine and  you will not face any issues. First install the front part, then the back part, after the antennas part and in the end, install the part for the Apple logo and the twig that is above it. To learn exactly how to install it please watch iCarbon's installation tutorial here.

The skin has perfect cut-outs for the lock button, the USB import, the 3.5mm headset import, the camera and flash, the front facing camera, light indicator, speakers, volume control and for the profile switcher button.

The skin makes the iPhone even more amazing with its beautiful 3D pattern. With the skin installed, the phone feels very solid and nice in the hand and you'll not face any problems using your device for many hours. If you already have a screen protector installed, you'll be still able to place the skin on it without any major problems. However, the iPhone will be a lot thicker and you'll not be able to install any cases on it.

After the advantages of the product, let's check out also its cons. I use my iPhone daily for many hours and with the skin installed I found out that the device is overheating. When I was using the phone without the skin for the same period of time it didn't overheat at all. So if you use your iPhone a lot that's a big con. Also, as all the skins, you'll not be able to fit your iPhone in any hard cases with the skin installed. You'll be able to use only some silicon ones. The last con is its price. It retails for 24.95$ on iCarbon's website. Although the product is great I think the company should lower the price because some reviewers or consumer will characterize this product as overpriced.

Overall iCarbons did a great job creating a high quality product that will make your phone even more beautiful, it will prevent it from minor scratches and it will make it feel better in the hand. I chose the black colour because my iPhone 4S is white and the reflection of white and black is amazing. The product is also available in white and red.

My rating for this product is 4.5/5.

If you are interested in purchasing the product, you can buy it from iCarbon's website for 24.95$ with free shipping: Product

Thanks so much for reading my honest review of the "iCarbons iPhone 4S Black Carbon Fiber" skin, if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comment section below or mention me on Twitter @OrestGPap.

Interview with Jon Rettinger, CEO & President of TechnoBuffalo, LLC

Today’s article is my first interview with a tech person. This person is the second human in the world that I admire the most after Steve Jobs, and his name is Jon Rettinger, founder and president of the beloved TechnoBuffalo website and YouTube channel. Jon is a huge influence to me, because due to his videos I started getting into technology, YouTube and being a tech writer. Without him I wouldn’t have joined the world of the Internet. So a big thanks for that and for accepting me to interview him.

I interview Jon through Skype at 10AM PST on the 27th of April 2012 (Friday). Those are the 12 questions that I asked Jon for the interview:

1. When did the whole idea of making TechnoBuffalo, and use it as your main job came up to your mind?

“After a year I started making videos on YouTube, I loved making them, talking about technology was (and is) my passion, I was working in a job that I didn’t like and I saw that YouTube brought me a little bit of money. So I thought if I could focus more on this and create a company, it can become my future career. So in early 2009 I decided to create TechnoBuffalo and live my dream.”

2. How did you come up with the name TechnoBuffalo?

“I wanted something to have “Techno” in it, and something simple. Everybody knew what the “Buffalo” was everybody could spell it, and it was something that everybody could remember it and something that I could brand.”

3. Before TechnoBuffalo where have you been working? Since TechnoBuffalo’s creation, did your life quality improved?

“When I was at school I always thought I would become a lawyer. So I had studied for law school and had applied for law school but my parents convinced me before I go, to work in a lawyer’s office for a year. I went to Los Angeles, worked there and I hate it. Lawyers were working too many hours; they couldn’t have a family neither a personal life, so I worked for an advertising company. I was an assistant to the entire advertising agency, so I learned a lot about advertising and marketing and got promoted one time. Then I wanted to return home and worked in the market section of a software development company. I worked there for 3 years and it was the last job I did, before I created TechnoBuffalo. In fact some of the early videos in the channel were filmed in the conference room of the company when it was empty. My life quality have definitely improved since the creation of TechnoBuffalo, I make a bit more money and have the job of my dreams, due to my audience which I want to thank it a lot for that.”

4. What was the first reaction of your wife and your parents, when you announced them that you will make videos on YouTube for a living?

“Back in 2009 economy in the U.S. was really bad and many people lost their jobs. I quitted the job that I had and told my parents that I did that because I want to create this company. Both my parents and my wife were very supportive. Both were very nervous, they didn’t understand what YouTube was and I am not really sure if they can explain what I do for a living (laugh). ”

5. How many hours do you spend in TechnoBuffalo offices and what do you do?

“I spend about 9 to 10 hours in the office and then 2 hours at home with the iPad checking our news, management and stuff. I spend most of my time on the growth of TechnoBuffalo. We have many employees that relay on me for their jobs, that they can be secured and TechnoBuffalo will have a bigger reputation.”

6. If people want to join TechnoBuffalo, is there any public application form or do you hire them?

“When we hire people we always post an article on the site that we hire. Then people contact us send some sample articles and our “Editor-In-Chief” reviews them, and interview those people. Then it comes to me for a final decision. Right now all our positions are filled.”

7. How much coffee do you drink daily?

“(laugh), I drink one or two cups of coffee in the morning but that’s it.”

8. What’s the first product you ever got for review from a company?

“The first product I ever got for review was an AT&T phone. It was called AT&T QuickFire. I remember I wrote a one and a half page letter and send it to AT&T’s PR; I found their contact info on a press release, saying why I should get a product to review and what my influence could beand what I wanted to do with it. AT&T was the first company that took a chance on me. I was so excited that I got it for review!”

9. If in the future “YouTube LLC” closes, what will you do for a living?

“TechnoBuffalo.com is a website that brings its own income. Also I would try to keep producing videos on another video producing network like Vimeo etc.”

10. What’s your favorite computer and smartphone?

“The iMac is my favorite computer; I use it daily in both office and home. It makes my life a lot easier. My favorite smartphone currently is the HTC One X.”

11. What’s your favorite desktop and mobile operating system?

“My favorite desktop OS is “Mac OS X 10”. My favorite mobile OS is… it depends. I like them and use them all. Some days I use iOS and I switch back to the iPhone 4S, I’ve also received many Android phones to review and eventually I loved Android and I also really like Windows phone 7. So in conclusion I don’t have a specific mobile OS that I like the most.”

12. Any advice or message you want to send to people that just started YouTube and kids that are getting bullied in school for making videos on YouTube?

“School is so hard and kids are so mean. It takes incredible courage kids to put their faces and give their opinions on YouTube. Some kids are immature and they destroy kid’s dream to do things online because they are worried of what people would say for that. It’s tough for an older person like me to say “Be strong and fight through that”, because the reality is really difficult. I’ll probably make a video on this topic soon.”

“The best advice I can give to people that just got into YouTube is to be their selves. Don’t copy people styles, like mine or other YouTubers. Just be yourselves. Making reviews also doesn’t require having a lot of money and the device itself, you can simply talk about the product without buying it. Make videos on what you are interested in. There are many boring videos on YouTube but there is one and only one you and your opinions and your take is unique.”

Those were my questions to Jon Rettinger folks. Huge thanks to Jon for letting me  interview him and to you for reading this article. If you have any questions related to this interview feel free to leave them in the comment section below or mention me on Twitter @OrestGPap.

Samsung once again showed us how amazing devices she make. The company also announced that a 4G LTE models will be coming soon. Something that impressed me a lot is that it has an HDMI import. The Galaxy S3 also supports a voice assistant like Siri, which is called "The S Voice". Here are some examples of its capabilities announced by Samsung:  “In addition to allowing information search and basic device-user communication, S Voice presents powerful functions in regards to device control and commands,” Samsung explained in a release. “When your phone alarm goes off but you need a little extra rest, just tell the GALAXY S III “snooze.”  You can also use S Voice to play your favorite songs, turn the volume up or down, send text messages and emails, organize your schedules, or automatically launch the camera and capture a photo.”
