Credit card number found on Google via Blippy
A large number of users who queried site:blippy.com +outstading on Google showed results of a user’s credit card number, owned by a Blippy user.
Blippy is a website aimed for users to see and discuss what other users are buying, either iTunes purchases, or restaurant purchases. Blippy has confirmed that four users’ credit cards were exposed in Google searches. The company has asked Google to re-index their entire website.
Blippy released a statement Saturday, April 24, and said: “We’re continuing to work with Google to have them remove all sensitive information from their cache.”
“We’re analyzing our backup databases from January & February to understand what additional information the Google cache may have.”
Would you ever sign up for a website that has a potential to expose your credit card number? Of course not. But Blippy has dealt with it, which is a good part to this story.
