Rumour: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Details Leaked

This was originally posted on agamingsite.com

We have just received from an unlikely source - but very trustworthy source - of some big Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer details. Although unwilling to give further details, what with the official gameplay trailer tonight, our source said that further details of it will be unveiled 'in the coming weeks'.

Our source did say that the game will feature cod points, but in a heavily 'redesigned and refocused way'. This could mean you earn it differently, as he said that 'wager matches are unlikely to return'. It could also mean you spend it in different ways, as he goes on to say 'single player has a very multiplayer feel to it, with some interesting ideas to it'. We can only speculate that this may be the ability to buy weapons in single player with cod points, although our source said not to take his word for that specific point.

He also said that there will be 'a huge improvement in the number of maps, modes and game types', and to expect 'more people on maps than you would normally expect'. 32 players was thrown about, but he didn't want to comment any more on it.  He did say whilst there will be no more wager matches, as he said Infinity Ward are in the mind of how they didn't copy Zombies, they won't copy wager matches, but he did say there will be some incorporated 'similar modes' to that of wager matches. He also let slip that 'they might include teams of three for one mode' although he stopped into going into any more details, sounding unsure whether it would make the cut. Finally he said there may be 'up to 23 maps from launch, but they have plans for huge post-support DLC'. This echoes what fourzerotwo said on twitter about Infinity Ward having plans for longer post-launch support.

Question is: if true or not - will these enhancements be enough to keep gamers away from other franchise such as Battlefield 3, and stick to their Call of Duty roots? For most it would be, but I would wait until the unveiling to decide whether it will add enough to the experience or not.

We would remind you that this is all just rumours at the moment, and we expect some news to confirm or not what we have been told soon.

Call of Duty 8?

Call of Duty is one of the most popular FPS (First Person Shooter) and in general one of the biggest games around. The series has been produced by two different companies Treyarch, and Infinity Ward but released by Activison. It has been that Treyarch would make the odd numbered games and Infinity Ward would make the even numbered games. Through out all the releases Infinity Ward has produced better quality and higher selling games. Although with their release of Black Ops they have really stepped up their game. Many have said that this is comparable to the Modern Warfare series which is made by a much bigger studio.

There have been some major business changes in Infinity Ward with the two founders leaving and a good amount of their staff also leaving the company. After making their amazing sub-series Modern Warfare their has been talk about disagreements on payment between them and Activison. With those two things in mind it was unknown if they were out of the Call of Duty series all together as it is their turn to put out the next game. There are a few different rumors going around. One of them is that they will be still making and putting it out this year, another is that a different company has hired to make the game, and the third is that both a third company and Infinity Ward will be putting out a game.

Recent talk and posts from several other gaming websites have stated that Infinity Ward is not out of the Call of Duty series but may be taking the year off and coming back with a new game. The game that they are said to be making is based upon the character Ghost in Modern Warfare 2.

The third company that has been being talked about is Sledgehammer Games. They are a fairly small and new gaming company but have recently opened new facilities. Their new studio's are state of the art, and running these are industry leading development teams. Sledgehammer games has put up a page on their site stating that they are working with Activision on the Call of Duty series. Even with that Activision has not stated this yet. Even if they are making a COD game it is unknown which one they will be making. Since Sledgehammer said they were making the game what type of game will it be? Will it be a new sub-series like Modern
Warfare or will it be a single game release like many of the ones that Treyarch has put out? it is still unknown. Sledgehammer Games may be putting their COD game out at the end of this year of next year, it is still up in the air.

Many of also stated that it does take a lot of time and resources to make a game. That is a known fact and that may also be a factor as why a third party has come in to give the other two studios more time to make better games. There is still little information out about the game, so many things may change.

Are you excited for the new Call of Duty game or are you tired of it? Which studio has produced better games in you eyes (Treyarch making the odds and Infinity Wards making the evens)? Do you want to see a new studio take a hand at Call of Duty? Share you thoughts and ideas in the comments.

Modern Warfare 2 "Special-Ops" Details

Today G4TV stopped by at Infinity Ward and played Special-Ops the new Co-Op mode for Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2. It looks very similar to the missions in Call of Duty 4 called 'Hunted and Death From Above'. The mission in this video is called "Overwatch". Which one player needs to get from point A to point B in a limited time, while the other player is controlling an AC-130 gunship and the catch is there is waves and waves of enemies thats why your partner is in a AC-130. This mission looks very hectic and that can be good. The textures look very nice and the detail is amazing. All we can do now is wait two weeks for most likely on of the best games ever made in terms to Next-gen FPS. Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 releases on November 10,2009 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Watch towards the end of the video and watch the AC-130 take out the helicopter. EPIC.
