Mobile Search Behavior [Infographic]

When it comes to searching online the first thing anyone does is move to the nearest internet connected device and type in a search query. The nearest device is often a mobile device. The very nature of a mobile device means we always have one at hand. Think about your mobile phone. How often is it either in your hand, in your pocket or on the table in front of you? Pretty much all the time. It's always nearby. That's what I was thinking when I stumbled on this last week when I was writing about Infographic start-up Visual.ly.

Infographics are huge just now. They're a great way to visualize complicated information and make it accessible to more people. Visual.ly has a huge library of infographics for you to browse through. It's easy to share them with your friends on Facebook or Twitter and there's embed code for you to include them on other pages, such as your own website or blog, if you want.

How America Changed in the Last 20 Years

Has America really changed between 1983 and today? If so, what is different about it? One thing that has changed significantly is the population. In the last 2 decades, the American population has grown from 233 million in 1983 to 313 million in 2013. This represents an increase of around 35 percent. Despite worries about the recent economic downturn, America's economy has grown a lot during this time period as well. 20 years ago, the GDP of the United States was $3.5 trillion. Now, this figure is sitting at $14.5 trillion.

The Internet Is Bigger Than You Think

It is hard to imagine what life today would be like without the Internet. However, the Internet is bigger than a lot of people think. It is estimated that 2.2 billion people in the world use the Internet. That is approximately one- third of the world’s total population. It is estimated that the World Wide Web contains one trillion pages. That is enough pages to fill up the Empire state building 200,000 times. The Empire State Building has 102 stories and is 1,454 feet tall.
